Young innovators from the Province of Basilan emerged as the Top 3 winners of the 2026 Bangsamoro Studentsโ Innovation Challenge, showcasing creative and technology-driven solutions to address community needs.
Taking the Champion title is the Intelligent Solar-Powered Traffic Light developed by the Mindanao Autonomous College Foundation, Inc. (MACFI). The innovation highlights the potential of renewable energy and smart technology in promoting safer and more efficient traffic management.
The IoT-Based Smart Water Filtration System of Akbar National High School secured the 1st Runner-Up award, while the Plastic Recycling Vending Machine of Claret School of Lamitan was named 2nd Runner-Up. Both projects demonstrated how student-led innovation can provide practical solutions to environmental and community challenges.
The challenge brought together student innovators from MACFI, Claret School of Lamitan, HFCFI, Sumisip National High School, Tipo-Tipo National High School, Buton National High School, Atong-Atong National High School, Akbar National High School, Lamitan National High School, Parangbasak National High School.
The 2026 Bangsamoro Studentsโ Innovation Challenge recognizes the creativity, ingenuity, and problem-solving skills of Bangsamoro youth. The achievements of the Top 3 winners underscore the growing role of students in advancing science, technology, and innovation toward a smarter, more sustainable Bangsamoro.
