Bravo (Bulls) Battery Strengthens Stakeholder Collaboration in World Wetlands Day 2026 Coastal Clean-Up Drive

Lamitan City, Basilan Province—In line with the observance of World Wetlands Day 2026, with the theme “Wetlands and Traditional Knowledge: Celebrating Cultural Heritage,” personnel of Bravo (Bulls) Battery, 1st Field Artillery Battalion, Artillery Regiment, Philippine Army, actively participated in a Coastal Clean-Up Drive on 04 February 2026 at Barangay Tandung Ahas, Lamitan City.

The activity was spearheaded by the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) of Lamitan City, in coordination with various government agencies, uniformed services, and local stakeholders. The initiative emphasized the significance of collaborative efforts in safeguarding wetlands, preserving marine ecosystems, and advancing environmental sustainability.

The participation of Bravo (Bulls) Battery personnel highlights the Philippine Army’s commitment to environmental stewardship, community engagement, and the strengthening of civil-military relations. This collaborative effort reflects unity among stakeholders in safeguarding natural resources and ensuring their sustainability for future generations.

Bravo “Bulls” Battery Enhances Skills Through OFP Training

Lamitan City, Basilan — The Bravo Bulls Battery, 1st Field Artillery (Beat ‘Em) Battalion, Artillery Regiment, Philippine Army, successfully conducted a two-day Observe Fire Procedure (OFP) training on September 4–5, 2025, for personnel of Bravo Company of the 45th Infantry Battalion, 11th Infantry Division, PA, and the 14th Cavalry Company of the 1st Cavalry Battalion, Armor Division, PA.

The series of lectures, led by 1st Lieutenant Michael G. Daanoy, Battery Commander, and Corporal Kenneth C. Cajes, Horizontal Control Operator and Forward Observer Instructor, focused on enhancing the participants’ knowledge and proficiency in Forward Observer integration.

Through a combination of classroom discussions and practical field application, participants significantly improved their skills and readiness in applying OFP techniques. The training culminated in a live-fire exercise at Brgy. Bangcuang, where the 14th Cavalry company employed its mounted 81mm mortar to test accuracy. During this exercise, the OFP students actively provided fire corrections, ensuring rounds were accurately aimed at the target, demonstrating the successful ex*****on of OFP procedures.

This initiative highlights the Philippine Army’s commitment to honing soldier capabilities and strengthening operational readiness in support of national defense and security.

Bravo Battery Strengthens 111DRC’s Indirect Fire Capabilities

Lamitan City, Basilan — Bravo Battery, 1st Field Artillery (Beat ‘Em) Battalion, Artillery Regiment, PA, conducted a two-day Observe Fire Procedure (OFP) training for the personnel of the 111th Division Reconnaissance Company (111DRC), 11ID, PA on August 21–22, 2025, at Sitio Lagasan, Brgy. Kulay Bato, Lamitan City, Basilan.

Led by Technical Sergeant Elbert C. Cahilog (Art) PA and Corporal Kennet C. Cajes (Art) PA, the training focused on Mortar Gunnery and OFP, enhancing the soldiers’ knowledge and confidence in indirect fire support and forward observation. Through this activity, Bravo Battery continues to build the combat readiness of our troops in sustaining peace and security.

Bravo Battery of 1st Field Artillery Battalion Installs New Platoon Sergeant of 2nd Howitzer Platoon

Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur — Bravo Battery, 1st Field Artillery (Beat ‘Em) Battalion, Artillery Regiment, Philippine Army, formally installed its new Platoon Sergeant of the 2nd Howitzer Platoon during a turnover ceremony held on August 5, 2025, at the Battery Headquarters in Sitio Magwakit, Barangay Colonia, Lamitan City, Basilan.

The event marked the transition of leadership from Technical Sergeant Elves A. Baud (Art) PA, who faithfully served in the post for two years and two months, to Staff Sergeant Jan Obryan P. Palada (Art) PA, previously assigned as the unit’s Logistics NCO.

In his remarks, First Lieutenant Daanoy, Battery Executive Officer, lauded TSG Baud for his outstanding leadership and professionalism, citing his crucial role in accomplishing mission objectives and strengthening team cohesion.

The Battery Commander also conveyed full trust in SSG Palada’s capability to uphold the same standards of excellence, reinforcing Bravo Battery’s unwavering commitment to discipline, teamwork, and mission readiness.

Field Artillery Joins Unified Coastal Defense Training in Basilan

Isabela City, Basilan—Bravo Battery of the 1st Field Artillery Battalion and Charlie Battery of the 8th Field Artillery Battalion joined the 101st Infantry (Three Red Arrows) Brigade, led by Brigadier General Alvin V. Luzon, in partnership with Marine Special Operations forces in a Joint Coastal Defense Training Exercise held at Barangay Baluno, Isabela City, Basilan, on 14 June 2025.

The exercise aimed to enhance coastal defense readiness, command coordination, and multi-domain engagement capabilities. Artillery units provided simulated fire support to enable maneuver operations and joint responses during coastal intrusion scenarios. “Our artillery firepower plays a decisive role in setting the conditions for maneuver success,” said 1LT Michael G. Daanoy (ART) PA, Commander, Bravo Battery, 1FAB.

Participating units included the 18th Infantry Battalion, 4th Special Forces Battalion, Marine Special Operations Company-P (MSOC-P), Marine Special Operations Team (MSOT) 8341, the 14th Cavalry Company, and the Signal Company.
Brigadier General Luzon emphasized, “A unified and synchronized approach among our forces is essential in responding effectively to evolving threats in our territorial waters and coastal areas.”

The exercise reflected the AFP’s commitment to defending strategic coastal zones through integrated operations, joint-force readiness, and multi-domain coordination in Basilan.

Bravo Bulls Joins Mangrove Planting and Coastal Clean-Up Drive

Lamitan City, Basilan Province — In a unified effort to promote environmental protection and sustainability, personnel from Bravo Battery of the 1st Field Artillery Battalion (1FAB), under the leadership of 1LT Michael G. Daanoy (ART) PA, Battery Commander, participated in a Mangrove Planting and Coastal Clean-Up Drive held in Barangay Tandung-Ahas, Lamitan City, Basilan on April 24, 2025.

The activity was spearheaded by the Office of the City Environment and Natural Resources (CENRO) of Lamitan City, headed by Forester Allan R. Tura, and conducted along with key stakeholders from the Charlie Battery, 8FAB, 18th Infantry Battalion, Philippine National Police (PNP) Lamitan City, Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Lamitan City, 53rd Special Action Company, 5th Special Action Battalion (PNP-SAF), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Lamitan City, and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA BARMM).

The joint initiative highlights the dedication of the Armed Forces, local government, and partner agencies to environmental protection and community development. It also emphasizes the value of collaboration and continued environmental awareness in preserving natural resources for future generations.

Bravo Bulls Participate in Earth Day 2025

Lamitan City, Basilan – In celebration of Earth Day 2025 and the Month of the Planet Earth, Bravo Battery, 1st Field Artillery Battalion (1FAB), AAR, Philippine Army, joined a tree planting activity on April 22, 2025, at Brgy. Ubit, Bohe Yakan, Lamitan City.

Spearheaded by the City Environment and Natural Resources Office under Forester Allan R. Tura, the event brought together various agencies, including Charlie Battery, 8FAB, 18IB, PNP, PCG, BFP, PDEA BARMM, and PNP-SAF.

A total of 500 native and fruit-bearing seedlings were planted, reinforcing the shared commitment to environmental protection under the theme “Our Power, Our Planet.”

Bravo Battery’s participation reflects the Philippine Army’s dedication to environmental sustainability and nation-building.
