The rubber industry in Basilan is set to experience revitalized growth and development through collaborative efforts between the BAEP WEE SAFE Project and the Ministry of Trade, Investments, and Tourism (MTIT)–Basilan Provincial Office, particularly under the Growth Enhancement Approach towards Regional Economic Development (GEARED) program of the IDIP Division. This partnership aims to enhance the productivity, sustainability, and market competitiveness of Basilan’s rubber sector by empowering local stakeholders, particularly smallholder farmers, cooperatives, and women entrepreneurs.

Under the initiative, both WEE SAFE and MTIT will work together to reactivate the Basilan Rubber Industry Cluster Council, address existing challenges in the value chain, and facilitate policy support by reviewing and amending the existing executive order governing the cluster if necessary. This move aims to ensure that the policy framework remains responsive to current industry realities and inclusive of all active stakeholders.

The collaboration also underscores a shared commitment to creating a fair, inclusive, and value-driven rubber industry, ensuring that economic benefits reach grassroots communities across the province.
