🧵 CLEANER FIBER, BETTER VALUE | Improved processing equipment helps prepare abaca for higher-value markets.

In Lanuza, Surigao del Sur, an abaca worker operates a spindle stripping machine to separate the valuable fiber from the soft, fleshy material of the plant. As each prepared strip passes through the machine, the unwanted pulp is removed, leaving long strands of abaca fiber for washing, drying, sorting, and grading.

Compared with manual stripping, the machine helps workers process more abaca with less physical effort while producing cleaner and more consistent fibers when properly operated.

For abaca-growing communities, efficient stripping is an important step toward maintaining fiber quality, meeting buyers’ requirements, and earning better returns from every harvest.

🌾💚 KAPIN 500 KA MAG-UUMA SA LANUZA NAKADAWAT OG HINABANG GIKAN SA PAFFP💚🌾

Malampusong gipahigayon karong adlawa, Hunyo 23, 2026, ang tabang pinansyal alang sa mga mag-uuma sa mais ug humay ubos sa Presidential Assistance for Farmers and Fisherfolk (PAFF) Program sa Department of Agriculture.

Tumong sa maong programa ang paghatag og hinabang pinansyal ngadto sa atong mga mag-uuma isip tubag sa padayon nga pagsaka sa presyo sa mga farm inputs.

Moabot sa 539 ka mga mag-uuma sa humay ug mais ang nakadawat sa maong ayuda, nga naghatag og dugang paglaum ug suporta aron mapadayon nila ang ilang pagpanguma ug masiguro ang padayon nga suplay sa pagkaon alang sa atong komunidad.

Ang kalampusan niini nga kalihokan nahimong posible pinaagi sa walay hunong nga suporta ug pagtagad sa atong pinalanggang Mayor, Hon. Algerico H. Irizari, MD, nga nagpadayon sa pagpalig-on ug pag-atiman sa kaayohan sa atong mga mag-uuma ug mananagat.

Ang Lokal nga Panggamhanan sa Lanuza, ubos sa iyang liderato, mapasalamaton pag-ayo sa atong Nasyonal nga Panggamhanan ug sa Department of Agriculture alang niining mahinungdanong programa.

Sa panahon sa mga hagit nga giatubang sa sektor sa agrikultura, kini nga inisyatibo usa ka pagpamatuod nga ang atong mga mag-uuma ug mananagat dili gayud pasagdan.

Sa atong mga mag-uuma ug mananagat dako kaayo ang among pagpasalamat sa inyong kakugi, pagkamainantuson, ug walay hunong nga sakripisyo aron adunay pagkaon sa matag panimalay. Kamo ang tinuod nga mga bayani nga nagpalig-on sa atong ekonomiya ug naghatag og paglaum sa umaabot.

Miawhag ang Municipal Agriculture Office sa lokal nga kagamhanan sa lungsod sa Lanuza, Surigao del Sur ngadto sa mga mag-uuma ug mananagat nga mag-andam sa epekto sa El Niño nga gipaabot moigo sa nasud sugod karong bulan sa Hunyo ug posibleng molungtad sa tuig 2027.

Ang MAO Lanuza gipangulohan ni Engr. Richard Orillaneda mihimo na daan og mga lakang alang sa nagkadaiyang sektor nga maapektohan sa huwaw.

Alang sa mga pananom, ang maong buhatan nang-apud-apod na og agricultural inputs sama sa vegetable seeds, certified rice seeds gikan sa PhilRice, rodenticides o hilo sa ilaga, ug uban pa.

Mipahigayon sab ang MAO-Lanuza og massive livestock and fisheries insurance sa Philippine Crop Insurance (PCIC) ngadto sa nagkadaiyang barangay, kini aron adunay madawat ang mga mag-uuma kon ugaling dako nga kadaot ang maaguman sa ilang pananom tungod sa huwaw.

Alang sa kahayopan sa lungsod, ang LGU nagpahigayon na sab og vitamin supplementation alang sa livestock.

Dugang inisyatiba sa LGU mao ang pakig-alayon sa National Irrigation Administration (NIA) alang sa desilting sa irrigation dam sa Barangay Bocawe.

Plano sab sa buhatan nga ang tanang irrigation earth canal makongkreto na pinaagi sa pakig-alayon sa mga concerned agencies sama sa DA ug NIA.

Gipahingosgan pud sa MAO-Lanuza ang lokal nga ordinansa (Muncipal Ordinance No. 03 series of 2019 ) nga nag-establisar og backyard gardening sa matag panimalay pagsuporta sa food security hilabina karon nga adunay hulga sa El Niño.

Awhag sa LGU-Lanuza ngadto sa mga mag-uuma, mananagat ug mga residente sa lungsod nga motabang aron mamenosan ang epekto sa El Niño pinaagi sa pagsunod sa advisory sa DA sama sa pag-adopt og water-saving technologies, pagamit og drought-tolerant ug early-maturing seeds, mananom og dali ra nga ma-harvest nga tanom, sigurohon nga adunay insurance ang mga pananom ug kahayopan gikan sa PCIC, ug pagsiguro nga maayo pud ang pagpakaon, pagpainom ug pagdumala sa mga binuhi nga hayop.

Ang MAO-Lanuza kanunay nga abli aron motabang mga residente sa lungsod.

Adunay mga government services ang LGU nga mamahimong ma-avail sa mga Lanuzanhons sama sa libreng pagpa-insure sa PCIC, paghatag og mga vegetable seeds, biologics sa mga hayop ug uban pa.

The Local Government Unit of Lanuza, through the Municipal Agriculture Office, will conduct an Agri One-Stop Shop Services activity in celebration of the Buwan ng Magsasaka at Mangingisda 2026.

This activity aims to recognize and honor the valuable contribution of our farmers and fisherfolk in ensuring food security and strengthening the local economy.

The following services will be available:
🌾 RSBSA and NFCRS Registration
🌾 Distribution of Certified Rice Seeds (for irrigated areas only)
🌱 Distribution of Vegetable Seeds (for backyard gardening)
🐄 Free Crop, Livestock, Fisheries, and Agri-Machinery Insurance
🐶 Free Rabies Vaccination for Dogs and Cats
🐖 Livestock Services

The services will be conducted in different barangays from May 14–28, 2026. We encourage all residents, farmers, and fisherfolk to participate and support this program.

INFORMATION CARAVAN ON GOOD AGRICULTURAL PRACTICES (GAP)

May 13, 2026 | SurfCamp Lanuza, Surigao del Sur 📍

Today, the Municipal Agriculture Office of Lanuza successfully conducted the Information Caravan on Good Agricultural Practices – a meaningful gathering organized to bring valuable knowledge, updates, and support closer to our community! 🚜🌾

We were honored to be joined by our Municipal Mayor, Hon. Algerico H. Irizari, our agricultural officials, partners, and most especially our hardworking farmers and participants who took time to be with us. 💚

Together with our resource speakers and staff from the Department of Agriculture – Caraga Region (Butuan City), and representatives from PhilHealth – Tandag City, we shared essential insights on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and GAP Certification, as well as important details about the PhilHealth Yaman ng Kalusugan Program (YAKAP). These discussions aim to promote safer, more efficient farming methods, ensure quality produce, and support the health and welfare of everyone in our agricultural community.

Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to the success of this activity! Your enthusiasm and willingness to learn reflect your dedication to improving our local agriculture and livelihoods. The Local Government Unit of Lanuza, through the Municipal Agriculture Office, joins the monthlong celebration of Buwan ng Magsasaka at Mangingisda Mayo 2026.

This month reminds us of the important role of our farmers and fisherfolk in providing food for our families and sustaining our community.

Despite their struggles, our unsung heroes continue to keep our local economy moving and ensure that food reaches every household through their hard work and efforts.

We continue to stand with and support our agricultural and fisheries sectors through programs and services that respond to their needs. May this celebration encourage all of us to value and support the people behind our food.
