𝑫𝑶𝑳𝑬 𝑳𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒋𝒆𝒄𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝑩𝒐𝒐𝒔𝒕 𝑰𝒏𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝑩𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒖𝒊 𝑯𝒐𝒈 𝑹𝒂𝒊𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒔

Following the directive of Labor Secretary Francis N. Tolentino to expand livelihood opportunities for vulnerable workers, the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office 1 through its Ilocos Norte Field Office awarded P1,953,350.00 livelihood assistance under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) to the Bangui Hog Raisers’ Association for its Swine Feeds Production Community-Based Livelihood Project on July 17, 2026.

The assistance is expected to help the association's members support their hog-raising activities, lower feed costs, and gain additional income for their families. It is also expected to benefit the community by supporting other local hog raisers.

DOLE Regional Director Honorina Dian-Baga said the project is expected to help the beneficiaries build a steady source of income and support their families. She encouraged the association members to work together to sustain the project.

Through DILP, DOLE continues to provide livelihood assistance to workers and vulnerable sectors to help them start or improve their livelihood projects and create additional sources of income for their families.

In line with the directive of DOLE Secretary Francis N. Tolentino to strengthen livelihood opportunities and support the recovery of local enterprises, the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office I, through its Ilocos Norte Field Office, has seen positive results in the assistance under the Adjustment Measures Program (AMP) during its recent monitoring of homestay beneficiaries in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte on July 14, 2026.

The monitoring showed that the assistance provided under the AMP has helped beneficiaries improve their business operations and enhance the quality of services offered to guests. Triple N Homestay, Curammeng Homestay, Rowena's Homestay, Henry Uddon's Homestay, and RVS Homestay received high-end laptops, smartphones, CCTV camera systems, and first aid kits, enabling them to strengthen their online presence, manage bookings more efficiently, improve guest safety, and deliver better customer service.

Ms. Rowena Cuares, one of the beneficiaries, shared that the assistance has made a significant difference in their homestay operations. "Malaking tulong po ang naibigay ng DOLE sa amin sa pamamagitan ng AMP. Mas napadali ang aming trabaho, mas marami kaming naaabot na kliyente online, at mas kampante ang aming mga bisita dahil sa mga kagamitang natanggap namin," she said.

DOLE Regional Director Honorina Dian-Baga emphasized that the positive results observed during the monitoring affirm the value of the Department's interventions in helping small tourism enterprises recover and grow.

DOLE remains committed to supporting micro and small enterprises through programs that promote resilience, productivity, and sustainable livelihood, contributing to the continued growth and recovery of Pagudpud's tourism industry and the local economy.

In support of DOLE Secretary Francis N. Tolentino’s commitment to helping young Filipinos find decent employment, the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office 1 through its Ilocos Norte Field Office and in partnership with the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte, spearheaded the graduation of 65 JobStart Philippines beneficiaries from the 10-day Soft/Core Skills Training on July 10, 2026.

The training equipped the graduates with important workplace competencies, preparing them for the next phases of the JobStart Philippines Program such as the technical training and internships. A Job Fair was also held after the graduation, giving the graduates the opportunity to meet employers and explore available employment opportunities.

DOLE Regional Director Honorina Dian-Baga underscored the importance of programs that equip young jobseekers with the skills, knowledge, and opportunities necessary to secure employment and build a better future.

Through the JobStart Philippines Program, DOLE continues to empower the youth by providing training and employment opportunities that enhance their employability and help them obtain decent and gainful employment.

DOLE to Extend Assistance to Batac Market Fire Victims

In accordance with the directive of DOLE Secretary Francis N. Tolentino to support workers affected by crises, the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office 1 (DOLE RO1) through its Ilocos Norte Field Office, conducted a profiling activity on July 8, 2026, for individuals affected by the Batac Public Market fire who may qualify for TUPAD emergency employment and livelihood assistance.

The activity aims to identify qualified beneficiaries for temporary employment, providing immediate assistance and helping affected vendors and workers begin rebuilding their livelihoods.

DOLE Regional Director Honorina Dian-Baga said, “Our priority is to provide timely assistance to workers and vendors affected by the Batac Public Market fire. Through TUPAD and livelihood interventions, we hope to help them regain stability and take the first steps toward rebuilding their sources of income.”

GIP is Building Skilled, Work-Ready Youth in Ilocos Norte

In line with Labor Secretary Francis Tolentino's commitment to youth employment and workforce development, the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office I, through its Ilocos Norte Field Office, monitored Government Internship Program (GIP) interns deployed in City Government of Batac and in various National Government Agencies (NGAs) across the province on July 2 & 7, 2026.

Through the monitoring, DOLE ensured that GIP interns are provided with safe work environment and appropriate supervision. The activity also confirmed that interns are gaining skills and valuable work experience, in line with the program's objective of preparing young Filipinos for future employment and public service.

"Through the Government Internship Program, we continue to invest in the skills and potential of our young workforce," said DOLE Regional Director Honorina Dian-Baga.

DOLE reaffirms its commitment to empowering the youth through meaningful employment opportunities and quality public service.
