Today, we proudly celebrate the 128th Philippine Independence Day, honoring the sacrifice, courage, and patriotism of the heroes who fought for our nation’s freedom. The program held in front of the Provincial Capitol of Ilocos Norte was led by the Honorable Governor Cecilia Araneta Marcos, and was graced by the Honorable Congressman of the 2nd District Angelo Marcos Barba. Present also in the said event, were the officials of , namely: Hon. Mayor James Bryan Alcid, Hon. Vice Mayor Carlos Fariñas , fellow members of the 13th Sangguniang Panlungsod - Laoag City : Hon. Atty. Donald Nicolas, Hon. Kiko Ang, Hon. LnB President Rbee Ablan, Hon. Bjorn Lao, Hon. Jaybee Baquiran, and Hon. Justine Chua; Hon. Atty. Roger John "RJ" Fariñas and other Board Members, public officials from other places of , uniformed personnel, and employees of the government.

Let this celebration remind us all, that the real spirit of freedom and independence lives on through our selfless commitment to our fellow … our fellow , and our shared desire for a just, peaceful, and prosperous nation.

After attending the Alisto Serbisyo at Mangato-A, I, together with Hon. Justine Chua and Hon. Atty. Donald Nicolas, attended the 2nd quarterly meeting of the Laoag City Committee on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women & Children. We discussed about the 1st quarter accomplishments, and numerous programs and projects to ensure the protection and safety of women and children.

This morning, I, together with the Hon. Mayor James Bryan Alcid, and fellow 13th Sangguniang Panlungsod - Laoag City members, namely: Hon. Kiko Ang, Hon. Justine Chua, Hon. LnB President and Committee Chairman on Labor Rbee Ablan, and former PPSK President and incoming Asec. Hon. Michael Christophe Agustin, alongside the dedicated employees of the Public Employment Service Office, joined the distribution of stipends to the 1st batch of SPES beneficiaries.

May this assistance inspire our youth to continue striving for excellence while pursuing their studies and aspirations.

This morning, together with Hon. Mayor James Bryan Alcid, fellow councilors Hon. PPSK President Michael Christophe Agustin, Hon. Justine Chua, and Hon. Kiko Ang, as well as the employees of the LYDO headed by Sir Harold Domingo, I attended the distribution of stipend for our Raniag Asenso Agtutubo Scholars, the oath-taking ceremony of newly elected scholar officers, and the awarding of certificates of recognition to our graduates.

With the theme, “Empowering the Youth, Fueling Dreams,” the City Government of Laoag continues to invest in the potential of our young , ensuring that they are equipped with the opportunities and support they need to achieve their aspirations. Indeed, the youth remain our greatest hope for a brighter and more progressive future.

This morning, I, together with the Hon. Vice Mayor Carlos Fariñas, SPM Justine Chua and SPM Jaybee Baquiran, had the honor to attend the blessing and inauguration of the new Library Hub of DepEd Laoag at Gabaldon Elementary School. In attendance also were the employees of SDO- Laoag led by Ma’am Joann A. Corpuz, Dra. Bonnao of DepEd Region 1, and Director IV Atty. Suzette Gannaban-Medina of the Bureau of Learning Resources. This is a meaningful step towards fostering literacy, learning, and a brigther future for our learners.

The thanksgiving mass was celebrated by Rev. Msgr. Joel Bruno C. Barut. 🙏
