The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, headed by Dr. Melvin Medel D. Manuel, together with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Laoag, Department of Public Safety, Philippine National Police (PNP) Laoag, Kap. Gil Ramos of Gabu Sur, and Barangay Officials of Gabu Norte conducted a rescue operation for a Mr. George S. Salvatiera, 40 y/o male, who was accidentally caught in quicksand while digging a deep well yesterday (March 12, 2019) at 1:30pm.

Salvatiera was successfully retrieved, given first aid, and transported to the nearest hospital with the immediate action of the team.
