The Barangay Council of Barangay 8, San Vicente, under the leadership of Punong Barangay Hon. Roque “Rbee” Ablan, informs all residents that, pursuant to the declaration of the City Government of Laoag headed by Mayor James Bryan Q. Alcid, classes in Elementary, Junior High School, and Senior High School, both in public and private schools, are SUSPENDED on Thursday, August 6, 2026, due to the weather conditions brought about by Tropical Storm .

The Barangay Council encourages all parents, students, teachers, and residents of Barangay 8 to prioritize their safety and remain vigilant as the effects of the storm continue to be felt in our area.

For everyone’s safety, we encourage you to:
✅ Stay indoors unless travel is absolutely necessary.
✅ Monitor official weather advisories from PAGASA and announcements from the City Government of Laoag.
✅ Prepare emergency supplies and keep communication devices fully charged.
✅ Coordinate with the Barangay Officials or emergency responders if immediate assistance is needed.

The Barangay Council of Barangay 8, San Vicente, under the leadership of Punong Barangay Hon. Roque “Rbee” Ablan, encourages all parents and guardians to have their children participate in the Measles-Rubella (MR) Supplementation activity.

🌿🧹 TUPAD BENEFICIARIES CONDUCT COMMUNITY CLEAN-UP IN BARANGAY 8, SAN VICENTE 🧹🌿

The Barangay Council of Barangay 8, San Vicente, under the leadership of Punong Barangay Hon. Roque “Rbee” Ablan, continues to promote a cleaner, healthier, and more environmentally responsible community through the TUPAD (Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers) Program.

TUPAD beneficiaries of Barangay 8 conducted an ongoing community clean-up activity at Bengang Creek and other areas within the barangay, helping maintain cleanliness, improve sanitation, and protect the environment for the benefit of all residents.

This initiative was made possible through the partnership of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the Office of Congressman Ferdinand Alexander “Sandro” Marcos, the City Government of Laoag, the Community Affairs Department (CAD), the Office of the City Environment and Natural Resources (OCENRO), the City Health Office (CHO), and the Liga ng mga Barangay – Laoag City.

The Barangay Council extends its sincere appreciation to all TUPAD beneficiaries and partner agencies for their dedication and hard work. Through collective action and shared responsibility, we continue to preserve the cleanliness and beauty of Barangay 8 while creating meaningful opportunities for our community.

Under the leadership of Punong Barangay Roque Benjamin "Rbee" C. Ablan, Barangay 8, San Vicente successfully conducted its weekly Kalinisan Drive as part of its continuing efforts to maintain cleanliness, promote proper waste management, and encourage environmental responsibility within the community.

Activity Summary:
- No. of Clean-up Sites: 2
- No. of Participants: 5
- 3 Barangay Officials
- 1 Barangay Tanod
- 1 Volunteer
- Volume of Waste Collected: 7 kilograms

The activity covered two designated clean-up sites and resulted in the collection and proper disposal of 7 kilograms of waste. The active participation of barangay officials and volunteers reflects their continued commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment for the residents of Barangay 8, San Vicente.

Through the consistent implementation of the Kalinisan Drive, under the leadership of PB Rbee Ablan, the barangay continues to strengthen community cooperation and shared responsibility in promoting environmental cleanliness and fostering a healthier and more sustainable community.

🚨🏆 BARANGAY 8 JOINS IN THE 1ST ALISTO BARANGAY RESCUELYMPICS 2026 🏆🚨

The Barangay 8 - San Vicente, under the leadership of Punong Barangay Hon. Roque “Rbee” Ablan, proudly participated in the 1st Alisto Barangay Rescuelympics 2026 held below the Gilbert Bridge, organized by the City Government of Laoag headed by Mayor James Bryan Alcid, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) and Liga ng mga Barangay as part of the observance of National Disaster Resilience Month.

The activity reaffirms our commitment to strengthening disaster preparedness and emergency response capabilities across all barangays.

The Barangay Council of Barangay 8, San Vicente, under the leadership of Punong Barangay Hon. Roque “Rbee” Ablan, shares these snapshots highlighting the key points from the 5th State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

⚡💡 BARANGAY 8 PARTICIPATES IN THE COMPREHENSIVE REGIONAL ENERGY STUDY (CRESP) 💡⚡

The Barangay Council of Barangay 8, San Vicente, under the leadership of Punong Barangay Roque “Rbee” Ablan, participated in the Comprehensive Regional Energy Study in the Philippines (CRESP): Assessment of the Department of Energy (DOE) Consumer Connect Program.

Representing Barangay 8 was Barangay Kagawad Leonardo Antonio, together with representatives from the Department of Energy (DOE) and the Research Team from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines – Open University System (PUP-OUS).

The activity formed part of the CRESP conducted by PUP-OUS in collaboration with the DOE, where Consumer Connect Program participants from the barangay took part in a survey assessing the effectiveness of the DOE’s National Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) Campaign.

Prior to the survey, participants attended a refresher discussion on energy conservation, efficient energy use, and the responsible management of energy resources. The study aimed to evaluate the participants’ knowledge, awareness, and actual application of energy-saving practices learned through the Consumer Connect Program.

Through initiatives such as this, Barangay 8 continues to support programs that promote energy efficiency, environmental sustainability, and informed community participation in national development efforts.

Under the leadership of PB Roque “Rbee” Ablan, the barangay remains committed to partnering with government agencies and academic institutions in advancing education, research, and sustainable practices that benefit the community.
