🎭 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐂𝐀𝐒𝐓 𝐇𝐀𝐒 𝐀𝐑𝐑𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐃.

The stage is waiting.

The lights are warming up.

And somewhere behind the curtain, seven teams are preparing to make their entrance.

For the first-ever LNK 2026 Speech Choir Competition, seven schools will bring one piece, one performance, and their own way of owning the stage in showcasing the rich history of the Sunshine City.

Different schools.

Different voices.

Different interpretations.

But when the curtain opens, there is only one question:

WHO WILL MAKE THE STAGE THEIRS?

And now, we introduce the seven schools who will battle it out for the title of 𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐒𝐓-𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑 𝐋𝐍𝐊 𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐄𝐂𝐇 𝐂𝐇𝐎𝐈𝐑 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐌𝐏𝐈𝐎𝐍. 🏆

Before the judges have their say, Laoagueños, you have yours.

👀 WHO’S YOUR BET?

Comment the school/team you think will take the plaque.

Let the predictions begin.

The curtain is about to rise. 🎙️🎭

Rain or shine, we pushed through.

As part of Linggo ng Kabataan 2026, the Laoag City Youth Development Office, together with the Local Youth Development Council and SK Federation of Laoag City, brought together different youth organizations, student leaders, Junior City Officials, SK officials, and community partners for the Project Arayat Tree Growing Activity at Caaoacan High School.

The rain was heavy, but everyone stayed. We got wet, got our hands dirty, and finished what we came to do.

The activity started with an orientation from the City Agriculture Office and OCENRO on the proper handling, planting, and nurturing of the seedlings, followed by the Pledge of Commitment and the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the City Government of Laoag and Caaoacan High School.

Then, we planted Narra, Bamboo, Coconut, and many more.

For us at the Youth Development Office, this is what youth participation should look like: not only sitting in meetings or talking about programs, but bringing young people together and giving them the opportunity to actually do something for their community.

Our sincere thanks to all the government offices, schools, barangay and SK officials, youth organizations, partners, and volunteers who stood with us despite the weather. Most especially, thank you to every young person who showed up.

The rain tested us, but it did not stop us. We planted today, and now comes the responsibility to nurture what we planted.

Engaged with the Local Youth Development Office (LYDO) and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation of Laoag City during a Youth Dialogue held on August 1, 2026, at the Conference Room of the Laoag City Hall.

The discussion provided an avenue to hear firsthand the concerns and priorities of our local youth sector, while also consulting on the preparations and celebration of the upcoming Linggo ng Kabataan. My appreciation goes to the LYDO team headed by Mr. Harold Domingo, LYDO IV, and the SK Federation Officers and Office Staff led by Hon. Rionell Jan Respicio, for their active participation and continued commitment to youth development in Laoag City.

The National Youth Commission, through the leadership of Usec. Joseph Francisco "Jeff" Ortega, remains committed to strengthening dialogue with local youth development offices and SK leaders, ensuring that grassroots perspectives are heard and considered in shaping programs and policies for young Filipinos. May conversations like this continue to translate concerns into action and ideas into meaningful opportunities for the youth. 🇵🇭
