UEPLaoang Library

UEPLaoang Library . BRIEF HISTORY OF THE LIBRARY
Fourteen years ago, this school institution was still named Laoang National Trade School (LNTS).

LNTS was created by House Bill No. 2448, enacted on December 31, 1959. The school was formally opened in November 7, 1960. In 1974, LNTS offered collegiate courses which specialized on trade or technology education only. The library then was located at the center of the related
subjects building. Beginning of such year, the college courses were offered, but on technology courses only so the libra

ry collections were confined mostly on secondary books and still very few on college references which were donated by the instructors. However, when the school was integrated to the University of Eastern Philippines system in the year 2000, and due to expansion, the library was relocated to the second floor of the Science building. And so library collections had increased, textbooks and references were purchased to fill the needs of the college students use in their courses and their research works. With the opening of some new courses like education, engineering, and criminology, again library holdings had increased through purchase of books from the library funds and the donations coming from Alumni, PTEA and other foundations. Presently, the University of Eastern Philippines, Laoang Campus, has a book collection within the minimum standards of library collections and are classified according to a system of classification known as Dewey Decimal classification system (DCC) this system of classification is indeed very important for it helps in speeding-up the location of certain books in the helps in speeding-up the location of certain books in the library.
