LGU Laoang Celebrates Child Development Workers Through a Special Fellowship Program

On August 14, 2026, Municipal officials, MSWDO staff, and Child Development Workers (CDWs) from various clusters gathered for a special fellowship program aimed at fostering camaraderie, showcasing local talents, and recognizing the valuable contributions of Child Development Workers in building stronger communities.

Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer Jocelyn Giray-Cerbito formally welcomed the attendees through her opening remarks. The program was also graced by the support of LGU Laoang Municipal Mayor Hon. Charlene L. Ongchuan, whose continued commitment to the welfare of children and support for Child Development Workers helped make the celebration possible. Her inspiring message of appreciation and encouragement was delivered through Hon. Jocylyn D. Mercader, Chairperson of the Committee on Social Services.

The main program featured a lively Dance Competition, with performances from Clusters 1 through 10, showcasing the creativity, teamwork, and talents of the participating Child Development Workers. Messages of support were also delivered by ECCD Focal Person Kerwin A. Baluyot and Hon. Jocylyn D. Mercader, Chairperson of the Committee on Social Services.

The event successfully promoted camaraderie, appreciation, and recognition among the Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) workers. Through competitive performances, fellowship, and social activities, the celebration strengthened teamwork, morale, and mutual support among the Child Development Workers and the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office of LGU Laoang.

The Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) of LGU Laoang extends its heartfelt gratitude to Municipal Mayor Hon. Charlene L. Ongchuan for her unwavering support and continued commitment to programs that empower and recognize Child Development Workers. With grateful hearts, we celebrate the successful conduct of the UPLIFT Payout in Laoang on August 11, 2026!

UPLIFT stands for Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food, and Transport.

A total of 676 beneficiaries received β‚±2,000 financial assistance each through the DSWD Sub-Field Office Team led by Ms. Frenzy Duana Acbu, in partnership with the LGU Laoang under the leadership of Hon. Mayor Charlene L. Ongchuan and the MSWDO.

Aside from the UPLIFT Payout, the PSA Team also conducted National ID Registration for UPLIFT beneficiaries who were not yet registered.

Our heartfelt appreciation to our Barangay Secretaries for assisting in the compliance and preparation of documents, and to all Barangay Officials and MSWDO Staff for ensuring a smooth, organized, and orderly payout.

Together, we continue to UPLIFT and empower every Laoangnon.

With the strong support of Hon. Mayor Charlene L. Ongchuan, the Local Government Unit of Laoang conducted activities earlier today, August 5, 2026, in observance of National Disability Rights Week.

The program began with a welcome message from Ms. Jocelyn G. Cerbito, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer, who also shared updates on the LGU’s programs and services for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).

Present to extend their message of support and inspiration were Hon. Frederick Deananeas, Officer-in-Charge, Office of the Mayor, and Hon. Lucky A. Delos Reyes.

Ms. Sheryl L. Lozano, our resource speaker, moved everyone with her inspiring story and experiences as a person with disability.

The celebration was made more meaningful with a series of contests: Singing, Dancing, and Drawing, participated in by PWD representatives, 2 from each barangay in Laoang.

Our heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Jomar B. Castillo, PDAO-Designate, and Ms. Angelene S. Castillo, PWD Focal Person, for facilitating the successful conduct of this activity.

With the unwavering support of Hon. Charlene L. Ongchuan, Municipal Mayor, the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) distributed school bags to day care children as part of its continuing support for the Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) Program.

Earlier today, July 31, 2026, the National Commission of Senior Citizen in coordination with the Local Government Unit of Laoang, through Office of Municipal Social Welfare and Development (MSWDO) and the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA), successfully facilitated the release of β‚±10,000 Cash Gift to 66 qualified senior citizens.

This is in line with the Expanded Centenarians Act of 2024 for our OCTOGENARIANS (80 & 85 y.o) and NONAGENARIANS (90 & 95 y.o).
