RAWIS, Laoang - Rawis National High School officially opened School Year 2026-2027 today, June 8, through its first flag-raising ceremony attended by students, teachers, and school personnel.

Hosted by the Supreme Secondary Learner Government officers, the activity highlighted the school's commitment to discipline, patriotism, and academic excellence as learners returned to campus for another year of learning.

In her message, Dr. Emma Merino, School Principal, encouraged students to remain focused on their studies, uphold school values, and actively participate in school programs and activities.

The ceremony included the opening prayer, singing of the Philippine National Anthem, recitation of the Panatang Makabayan, Panunumpa sa Watawat ng Pilipinas, and the Bagong Pilipinas Pledge.

Students and personnel also recited the Department of Education's Vision, Mission, and Core Values and rendered the Rawis National High School Hymn, Schools Division Hymn, and Bagong Pilipinas Hymn.

Important announcements and reminders regarding school policies and upcoming activities were likewise delivered during the program.

It was a simple morning at Rawis National High School yesterday, June 5, but one that carried a quiet sense of transition for the school community.

Teachers, staff, and stakeholders gathered for a program that formally welcomed Dr. Emma V. Merino as the new school head. The same activity also served as a send-off for former school head Dr. Joseph A. Ortecio, who was not able to attend but was still acknowledged during the program.

The moment was not marked by elaborate ceremonies, but by messages of appreciation and recognition. Mr. Rex Arnold B. Irinco and Barangay Captain Miguel B. Flores both expressed gratitude for Dr. Ortecioโ€™s leadership and the contributions he made during his time at Rawis NHS.

Before the formal introduction of Dr. Merino, Mrs. Maria Melinda D. Adora briefly presented her to the faculty and staff to set the tone for her welcome to the school.

In her message, Dr. Merino thanked everyone for the warm reception and shared her openness to working closely with the teachers and staff in the coming school year.

A simple token was handed to Dr. Merino by Barangay Captain Flores as a symbol of the communityโ€™s support and trust in her leadership.

The program ended with a photo opportunity, as the school community quietly marked the start of a new chapter at Rawis National High School.

RAWIS, LAOANG, Northern Samar - DepEd Laoang III District formally launched Brigada Eskwela 2026 during a district-wide kick-off program held at Rawis National High School on June 3.

The activity gathered school heads, teachers, non-teaching personnel, local officials, parents, partner agencies, and community stakeholders in support of this year's Brigada Eskwela campaign themed, "Bayanihan sa Paaralan: Nagkakaisa para sa Kaayusan at Kaalaman."

District officials said the initiative aims to strengthen community participation in preparing schools for the opening of classes and ensuring safe, clean, and learner-friendly learning environments.

The program featured the presentation of the DepEd Quality Policy Statement, an overview of Brigada Eskwela 2026, and messages of support from various partner agencies and stakeholders.

Representatives from the Barangay Local Government Unit, Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, and General Parents-Teachers Association expressed their commitment to support the district's Brigada Eskwela activities.

A signing of commitment was also conducted to symbolize the collective pledge of schools, stakeholders, and community partners to support the program.

In her message, Dr. Mary Ann I. Tacmo, District Head, thanked stakeholders for their continued cooperation and emphasized the importance of sustaining partnerships that promote quality education and school readiness.

Rawis National High School, headed by Dr. Emma V. Merino, Principal IV, served as the host school for the district-wide kick-off program, which was attended by representatives from schools across Laoang III.

Brigada Eskwela is an annual program of DepEd that mobilizes volunteers, community organizations, local government units, private institutions, and other stakeholders to assist schools in preparing facilities and resources before the opening of classes.

Launched in 2003, the initiative has become one of DepEd's flagship programs for strengthening school-community partnerships and encouraging volunteerism in the education sector.

Through the years, Brigada Eskwela has enabled schools nationwide to undertake repair, maintenance, and improvement activities while fostering a culture of shared responsibility among education stakeholders.

This year's campaign continues to highlight the Filipino spirit of bayanihan by encouraging communities to work together in creating conducive learning environments for learners.

Afterward, a clean-up activity will be conducted to prepare the school for the opening of classes on ๐‰๐ฎ๐ง๐ž ๐Ÿ–.
