𝗕𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗛𝗗 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗛.𝗘.𝗔.𝗥.𝗧. 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝗦𝗖𝗟𝗔 𝗣𝗔𝗡𝗔𝗚𝗧𝗜𝗣𝗢𝗡 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

On July 26, 2026, the Basakanon Advocates and Leaders for Adolescent Health and Development (𝗕𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗛𝗗) proudly served as one of the resource organizations during PANAGTIPON SSCLA 2026, held at the Sudtunggan Elementary School Gymnasium, Barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City.

Representing the organization, Mr. Hope Deloso Ynot, President of 𝗕𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗛𝗗, facilitated the organization's flagship Heart to H.E.A.R.T. Talk, empowering more than 70 youth leaders. Through an engaging and interactive discussion, participants explored the five core pillars of the program—HIV and AIDS Awareness, Early Sexual Encounters, Adolescent Sexuality, Reproductive Health, and Teenage Pregnancy—while fostering responsible decision-making, healthy lifestyles, and youth leadership.

The activity formed part of a broader leadership development program that also featured discussions on Voters' Education, Environmental Stewardship, and organizational accomplishments. 𝗕𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗛𝗗 is grateful to the Sudtonggan Society of Core Leaders Sudtonggan Society of Core Leaders Association (SSCLA) for the opportunity to contribute to the formation of empowered and socially responsible young leaders. We likewise commend every participant whose enthusiasm and active engagement made the session meaningful and impactful.

As 𝗕𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗛𝗗 continues to strengthen its peer-led advocacy across Lapu-Lapu City, activities like PANAGTIPON SSCLA 2026 reaffirm our belief that investing in young people through education and leadership development creates lasting community impact. Every empowered youth becomes another advocate for informed choices, healthier lifestyles, and positive change.

On June 29, 2026, the 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗮𝗸𝗮𝗻𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗱𝗼𝗹𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (𝗕𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗛𝗗) successfully conducted its flagship 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝑯.𝑬.𝑨.𝑹.𝑻. 𝑻𝒂𝒍𝒌 during the 𝐀𝐝𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 (𝐀𝐇𝐃) 𝐒𝐲𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐮𝐦 𝐚𝐭 Benthel Asia School of Technology, Inc., engaging more than 𝟭,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 through a whole-day, three-session symposium. The activity stands as one of 𝗕𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗛𝗗's largest peer-led adolescent health education initiatives to date, reaffirming the organization's commitment to promoting informed, healthy, and responsible decision-making among Filipino youth.

Grounded on the principles of peer education and evidence-based adolescent health advocacy, the symposium provided a safe, interactive, and youth-friendly learning environment where students openly discussed issues affecting adolescents today. Through engaging lectures, open forums, and participatory activities, participants deepened their understanding of the five core pillars of the Heart to H.E.A.R.T. Talk—HIV and AIDS Awareness, Early Sexual Encounters, Adolescent Sexuality, Reproductive Health, and Teenage Pregnancy. Beyond the transfer of knowledge, the activity sought to cultivate values of responsibility, empathy, resilience, and leadership, empowering students to become positive influences within their schools and communities.

The symposium was further honored by the presence of Hon. Kim S. Estillore, 𝐒𝐊 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐧 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, and Hon. Mike Kilven, 𝐒𝐊 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐫, whose steadfast support for youth health and development initiatives continues to strengthen 𝗕𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗛𝗗's mission. Their attendance underscored the importance of collaborative leadership between local government and youth organizations in advancing adolescent health and meaningful youth participation.

𝗕𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗛𝗗 extends its sincere appreciation to the administration, faculty, and staff of Benthel Asia School of Technology, Inc. for entrusting the organization with the opportunity to educate and engage their student body. We likewise express our profound gratitude to 𝐌𝐬. As 𝗕𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗛𝗗 continues to expand its flagship programs across Lapu-Lapu City, this successful symposium reflects the organization's enduring mission to create safe spaces where young people can learn, grow, and lead. More than reaching over a thousand students in a single day, this initiative represents an investment in a generation equipped with the knowledge, values, and confidence to make informed choices and contribute meaningfully to healthier, more resilient communities.

The 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗮𝗸𝗮𝗻𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗱𝗼𝗹𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (𝗕𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗛𝗗) successfully convened its 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐥𝐲 𝐏𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬' 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠, marking a significant milestone in the organization's continued commitment to advancing adolescent health and youth development. During the meeting, the organization formally lifted its Notice of Discontinuance following the reactivation of its Batch 1 Peer Educators, thereby restoring 𝗕𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗛𝗗's technical capability to implement evidence-based and peer-led Adolescent Health and Development (AHD) programs in accordance with the standards of the Commission on Population and Development Region VII.

The meeting was notably graced by Ms. Cybel Cortes Tantay, 𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙊𝙛𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙧 𝙄 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙉𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙝 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙞𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 (𝙉𝙔𝘾) – 𝘾𝙚𝙗𝙪 𝘼𝙧𝙚𝙖, who joined the organization in reaffirming its commitment to youth leadership and community development. Her presence served as a meaningful affirmation of 𝗕𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗛𝗗's growing credibility and standing within the youth development sector. As one of the organization's long-time mentors and advisers, Ms. Tantay continues to provide invaluable guidance in strengthening 𝗕𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗛𝗗's institutional capacity and ensuring that its initiatives remain responsive to the needs of young people. Her support reflects the importance of sustained collaboration between grassroots youth organizations and national youth development institutions in cultivating responsible and empowered youth leaders.

Among the key organizational matters discussed was the finalization of 𝗕𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗛𝗗's Constitution and By-Laws (CBL), a foundational document that strengthens the organization's governance, accountability, and long-term sustainability. The Peer Educators also finalized preparations for the upcoming August 2026 advocacy calendar and outlined strategic plans for the expansion of 𝗕𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗛𝗗's flagship AHD initiatives throughout Lapu-Lapu City. These include the Heart to H.E.A.R.T. Talk, U4U Teen Trail, Parent-Teen Talk, AHD Film Fest, and other peer-led educational programs that promote informed decision-making, healthy lifestyles, adolescent well-being, and meaningful youth participation.

The meeting likewise became an occasion to celebrate a milestone that reflects years of perseverance and dedication—𝗕𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗛𝗗's recognition as a 𝑽𝒊𝒔𝒂𝒚𝒂𝒔 𝑭𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒕 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑻𝒆𝒏 𝑶𝒖𝒕𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑼𝑵 𝑺𝑫𝑮 𝑨𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒔 (𝑻𝑶𝑼𝑺𝑨) 2026: 𝑹𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒈𝒏𝒊𝒛𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝑻𝒐𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒐𝒘, organized by the 𝙐𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙉𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙎𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝘿𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙥𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙎𝙤𝙡𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙉𝙚𝙩𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙝 𝙋𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨 (UN SDSN Youth - Philippines) and the Global Youth Program. The recognition affirms the organization's sustained efforts in advancing youth-led initiatives that contribute to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and reinforces 𝗕𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗛𝗗's commitment to creating measurable and lasting community impact.

As 𝗕𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗛𝗗 enters this renewed chapter, the organization remains steadfast in its mission of empowering young people through leadership, peer education, and public service. With strengthened governance, the renewed commitment of its trained Peer Educators, the continued guidance of Ms. Cybel Tantay, and the unwavering support of its partners and stakeholders, 𝗕𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗛𝗗 is well-positioned to broaden its reach and deepen its contribution to adolescent health and youth development across Lapu-Lapu City.

This meeting signifies more than the resumption of organizational activities—it symbolizes 𝗕𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗛𝗗's renewed resolve to lead with integrity, serve with excellence, and continue developing young leaders who will create meaningful and sustainable change in their communities.

Day 1 is officially underway at the Convergence! Our very own BALAHD President Hope Ynot and SK Councilor Mike Dela Cruz are currently in Palawan, representing us as leaders from the UN, government, civil society, and the youth sector gather to set the stage for sustainable development.
From deep dives into the 2030 Agenda to discussing the current state of SDG implementation in the Philippines, they are gaining valuable insights to bring back home to our community.

A huge thank you to our Mayor Hon. Mayor Cindi King Chan, Congressman Hon. Junard "Ahong" Chan, and especially to Kap Daday Jasmine "Daday" Chan for helping our representatives get there! This recognition affirms our organization's commitment to advancing adolescent health, youth participation, leadership development, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through meaningful, community-driven initiatives.

As a 𝙑𝙞𝙨𝙖𝙮𝙖𝙨 𝙁𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙩, 𝑩𝑨𝑳𝑨𝑯𝑫 has been invited to participate in the UN SDGs Youth Convergence 2026 to be held in Puerto Princesa, Palawan on June 24–28, 2026, where finalists from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao will be formally recognized. More importantly, we remain in contention to be named among the 𝙏𝙤𝙥 10 𝙉𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙊𝙪𝙩𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙐𝙉 𝙎𝘿𝙂 𝘼𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙚𝙚𝙨, subject to further evaluation and due diligence by the distinguished panel of judges.

This milestone would not have been possible without the unwavering support of Hon. Kim S. Estillore , SK Councilor for the Committee on Health and Education; Hon. Mike Kilven Dela Cruz and the Commission on Population and Development Region VII and Hon. Jasmine "Daday" Chan, Barangay Chairperson of Basak. Your guidance, trust, and commitment to youth empowerment have enabled BALAHD to transform ideas into impactful programs that benefit the young people of our community.

To every volunteer, peer educator, youth leader, partner organization, and supporter who has journeyed with us—this recognition belongs to all of us. As we carry the banner of Barangay Basak and Lapu-Lapu City to the national stage, we remain steadfast in our mission to create healthier, empowered, and more sustainable communities for the next generation.

Today, we celebrate one of our own — a dedicated 𝐏𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐇𝐃 — who has successfully completed his 𝑩𝒂𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒍𝒐𝒓 𝒐𝒇 𝑺𝒄𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝑪𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒍 𝑬𝒏𝒈𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈.

Your journey has been marked by perseverance, excellence, and a heart for service. While pursuing your degree, you also shared your time and compassion as a peer educator, empowering fellow youth and advancing Adolescent Health and Development in our community.

𝘽𝙖𝙨𝙖𝙠𝙖𝙣𝙤𝙣 𝘼𝙙𝙫𝙤𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝘼𝙙𝙤𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙃𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙝 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘿𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙥𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 (𝘽𝘼𝙇𝘼𝙃𝘿) attended two consecutive days of youth consultations—from the 𝑵𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒉 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 (𝑵𝒀𝑪) 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒖𝒍𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑨𝑺𝑬𝑨𝑵 𝑪𝑻𝑹𝑳+𝒀𝑶𝑼𝑻𝑯 consultation, where voices were heard, shaping and strengthening our youth for the betterment of our future.

Active participation defined the week for the 𝘽𝙖𝙨𝙖𝙠𝙖𝙣𝙤𝙣 𝘼𝙙𝙫𝙤𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝘼𝙙𝙤𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙃𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙝 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘿𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙥𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 (𝘽𝘼𝙇𝘼𝙃𝘿) as they attended two pivotal, consecutive days of youth consultations. Having been invited to these impactful events by 𝑵𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒉 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 (𝑵𝒀𝑪) Presidential Officer 1, 𝑴𝒔. 𝑪𝒚𝒃𝒆𝒍 𝑪. 𝑻𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒚, BALAHD engaged in the NYC consultation on May 29, 2026, at the NYC Cebu Area Office. There, the newly appointed 𝑽𝒊𝒔𝒂𝒚𝒂𝒔 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒆𝒓, 𝑺𝒊𝒓 𝑱𝒖𝒂𝒏𝒒𝒖𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝑪𝒂𝒓𝒍𝒐 “𝑾𝒂𝒄𝒌𝒚” 𝑹𝒂𝒄𝒉𝒐, listened intently to the specific grassroots concerns and recommendations of various barangays and organizations, offering valuable guidance and firmly assuring the youth leaders that their voices would be 𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒗𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒖𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒍𝒚 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒅 𝒃𝒚 𝒉𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒈𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 The momentum carried into the following day, May 30, 2026, when 𝓑𝓐𝓛𝓐𝓗𝓓 presented themselves at the Visayas leg of the "𝐂𝐓𝐑𝐋+𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐓𝐇 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰: 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐒𝐄𝐀𝐍'𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞," held at the 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐄𝐝 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡 Center in Cebu City. Spearheaded by 𝓣𝓪𝔂𝓸 𝓪𝓷𝓰 𝓣𝓪𝔂𝓪 (𝓣𝓐𝓨𝓐) 𝓾𝓷𝓭𝓮𝓻 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓓𝓢𝓦𝓓, this second event tackled critical modern issues—including the 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙧 𝙪𝙨𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 (𝘼𝙄), 𝙙𝙞𝙜𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝙨𝙖𝙛𝙚𝙩𝙮, 𝙥𝙧𝙞𝙫𝙖𝙘𝙮, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 against harm—ensuring that BALAHD and fellow 𝓥𝓲𝓼𝓪𝔂𝓪𝓷 𝔂𝓸𝓾𝓽𝓱 𝓪𝓭𝓿𝓸𝓬𝓪𝓽𝓮𝓼 actively contribute to national discussions on digital governance and 𝔸𝕊𝔼𝔸ℕ cooperation.
