IN THE NEWS | Teodoro: AFP pensions should not be pitted against modernization budget

Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Gilberto C. Teodoro Jr. clarified Monday, Aug. 24, that less than half of the proposed P142.95 billion Military and Uniformed Personnel (MUP) pension fund for next year is allocated for Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) retirees, saying comparisons with the AFP modernization program are misleading.

The clarification came after a report highlighted that the Marcos administration has proposed P142.95 billion for MUP pensions in 2027, up 6.8 percent from P133.91 billion this year and nearly triple the proposed P50-billion AFP modernization budget.

Ang 205ᵗʰ Tactical Helicopter Wing, Philippine Air Force ay patuloy na nagsasagawa ng relief operations sa mga komunidad na naapektuhan ng magnitude 7.8 offshore earthquake sa Sarangani noong Hunyo 2026. Sa pakikipag-ugnayan sa Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Region XII – SOCCSKSARGEN, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XII, at suporta mula sa mga lokal na pamahalaan, nagsagawa ang 205th THW ng aerial delivery ng food packs at iba pang relief goods sa mga liblib na barangay na mahirap maabot dahil sa kondisyon ng mga daanan.

Sa pamamagitan ng air mobility, naihahatid ang kinakailangang tulong sa mga lugar na limitado ang access sa lupa, na nagbibigay-daan sa mas mabilis na pagtugon sa mga apektadong komunidad.

Mula Hunyo hanggang sa kasalukuyan, patuloy ang PAF, sa pamamagitan ng 205th THW, sa paghahatid ng tulong upang matiyak na naaabot ang mga komunidad na higit na nangangailangan.
