OUR HUMBLE BEGINNING AND THE REASON OF OUR EXISTENCE

The 20th Infantry (We Lead) Battalion traces its roots with the activation of 20th Battalion Combat Team (20BCT) on 06 September 1950. The unit underwent rigorous training in preparation for deployment abroad as the country’s contribution to the United Nations. The 20BCT was one of the Army units that form part of the Philippine Expeditionary

Forces to Korea (PEFTOK) and participated in numerous battles. Most notable of which were the Battles of Alligator Jaw Ridge (West of Chorwon) and the Battle of Jamestown Line. Although some of its personnel were wounded and eight were killed in action, the unit successfully won its campaigns. After a year of stint in Korea, 20BCT returned to the Philippines on 08 August 1952 and established its base in Plaridel, Bulacan. The Battalion was reactivated in September 1958 and was subsequently assigned with the 1st Infantry (Tabak) Division at Fort Magsaysay, Palayan City. Thereafter, the unit underwent organizational changes from Mechanized to Light Infantry, deployed to different parts of the country, and participated in various internal stability campaign. Currently, the unit is organic to 8th Infantry (Stormtroopers) Division, Philippine Army and placed under the operational control of 803rd Infantry (Peacemaker) Brigade. Since its activation in 1950, the 20th Infantry (We Lead) Battalion, Philippine Army has been resolute and faithful to its duties as bastion of democracy, guardians of peace, and partner in socio-economic and sustainable development efforts of the government. It has produced distinguished military officers and national leaders which include BGEN TEODULFO S. BAUTISTA who was murdered while on peace mission in Brgy Danag, Patikul, Sulu; AMBASSADOR MANUEL T. Mga Nakatagong Suplay ng Komunistang Teroristang NPA, Nadiskubre sa Northern Samar
