Lavezares Barangays Strengthen Digital Governance Through Successful LGUSS-BIMS Training
LAVEZARES, Northern Samar โ A significant step toward digital transformation at the grassroots level was achieved as the Municipality of Lavezares successfully conducted the Two-Day Training on the Implementation of the Local Government Unit Support System โ Barangay Information Management System (LGUSS-BIMS) on February 25-26, 2026 at Rapak Leisure Hub.
The activity gathered the Punong Barangays and Barangay Secretaries from all twenty-six (26) barangays of the municipality, reinforcing their collective commitment to modernizing barangay governance through digital systems.
The training was conducted in line with Department of the Interior and Local Government Memorandum Circular No. 2025-104, which mandates the adoption of LGUSS-BIMS nationwide to standardize records management, improve public service delivery, and promote data-driven decision-making at the barangay level.
Municipal Mayor Edito B. Saludaga graced the activity and expressed his strong support for initiatives that elevate governance performance and transparency. He emphasized the importance of embracing digital platforms to ensure efficient, responsive, and accountable public service.
Providing technical expertise during the two-day workshop were Engr. Jayffer Mike Mahinay, Information System Analyst, and Mr. John Efren Cardeno, Senior Admin Assistant, who facilitated live demonstrations and hands-on sessions. Participants were guided through system navigation, data encoding, report generation, and troubleshooting procedures to ensure practical understanding and sustained utilization of the platform.
The event was further strengthened by the presence of representatives from the DILG Northern Samar Provincial Office (NSPO). Sir Eduardo A. Diaz, Program Manager, delivered a message of support, highlighting the crucial role of barangays in achieving good local governance outcomes through innovation and compliance. Meanwhile, Sir Jean Redi T. Briones, Cluster Head, inspired participants through his discussion on Elevating Barangay Governance Performance, challenging local leaders to move beyond compliance and aim for excellence in service delivery, thereby setting a goal to have at least 10 more passers of SGLG for Barangays.
Throughout the training, participants actively engaged in discussions and hands-on workshops, bringing their laptops and actual barangay data for real-time application. The atmosphere reflected both seriousness of purpose and shared enthusiasm for modernization.
By the end of the activity, barangay officials were not only equipped with enhanced technical knowledge but also renewed commitment to institutionalize LGUSS-BIMS in their daily operations. The successful conduct of the training marks a milestone in Lavezaresโ journey toward smarter, more transparent, and performance-driven barangay governance.
Indeed, the initiative demonstrated that when leadership, technical expertise, and collective commitment come together, meaningful transformation at the grassroots becomes possible.
