The Bicol Consortium for Health Research and Development was established in 2007 to address the need to establish a strong health research and development coordination system involving various institutions in Region V with interest in health research. Putting them together to work on consortium arrangement will promote complementation thereby increase synergy despite limited resources for Research

and Development undertakings. The primary objective of BCHRD is to institute/strengthen the system of collaboration in Region V to develop and enhance capacity of research institutions within the region which has interest and engage in health and related researches, as a strategy to improve the health conditions of the Bicolanos.

The PhilHealth STUDIES Program, implemented by the Council that serves as a platform that generates and translates evidence to strengthen PhilHealth policies and operations, gathered PhilHealth officers & technical personnel for a Brown Bag Session on turning insights into action on May 4, 2026.

The featured study, “Enhancing Member Awareness: Reviewing PhilHealth's Communication and Marketing Strategies,” highlighted key strengths, gaps, and actionable ways to better reach members nationwide.

📢 New Publication Alert!

A study under the HIV Gaming, Engaging, and Testing (HIV GET) project, supported by the UK–Philippines Newton Agham Fund through DOST-PCHRD and the UK Medical Research Council, is now published in Discover Public Health via Springer Nature.

Developed through the CHART Program as part of Dr. Zypher Jude G. Regencia’s training, the study presents findings on HIV awareness and stigma reduction among key populations in the Philippines. It is part of the broader Battle in the Blood (BitB) project led by Dr. Emmanuel S. Baja of the Institute of Clinical Epidemiology at the National Institutes of Health, University of the Philippines Manila.

‎Sa nasabing programa, tinalakay rin ang kasalukuyang status ng 2023-2028 Strategic Plan at pormal na inilunsad ang BCHRD-REC (PHREB Level 1 Accredited). Bahagi rin ng gawain ang pagkilala sa mga Consortium Member Institutions na nagpakita ng aktibong pakikilahok sa nagdaang ika-18 PNHRS Week Celebration.

‎Ang inisyatibong ito ay patunay ng matatag na ugnayan ng mga institusyon sa rehiyon upang matiyak na ang bawat inobasyon at pag-aaral ay magbubunga ng konkretong serbisyo para sa ikabubuti ng bawat mamamayan.
