Applications for the 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟳 𝗗𝗢𝗦𝗧-𝗦𝗘𝗜 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 officially open on 𝟭𝟳 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲.

✅ Who can apply?
• Grade 12 students graduating in SY 2026–2027 who belong to the STEM strand or are among the top 5% of their non-STEM graduating class.
• Previous Grade 12 graduates who have not yet enrolled in college and meet the same STEM/non-STEM requirements.

‎‎𝙈𝙖𝙨 𝙇𝙞𝙜𝙩𝙖𝙨 𝙣𝙖 𝙋𝙖𝙜𝙠𝙖𝙞𝙣 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙖 𝙨𝙖 𝙏𝙤𝙢𝙖𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙤𝙣𝙜 𝘽𝙞𝙠𝙤𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙤

Upang higit na mapalakas ang kaligtasan ng pagkaing inihahain sa loob ng mga paaralan, pinangunahan ng Department of Science and Technology–Provincial Science and Technology Office (DOST-PSTO) Albay, katuwang ang Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Legazpi sa pamamagitan ng Health and Sanitation Office, ang isang Basic Food Hygiene Seminar para sa mga canteen concessioners ng University of Santo Tomas Legazpi. Isinagawa ang aktibidad sa Media Center Hall ng unibersidad.

Dinaluhan ang pagsasanay ng 42 kalahok, kabilang ang mga empleyado ng mga canteen at food cart operators, gayundin ang mga kinatawan ng pamunuan ng unibersidad. Layunin ng seminar na palakasin ang kaalaman at kakayahan ng mga food handlers sa wastong food hygiene at food safety practices upang matiyak ang ligtas at de-kalidad na pagkaing inihahain sa komunidad ng UST Legazpi.

Pinangunahan ni Bb. Fae B. Banda, Supervising Science Research Specialist ng DOST-Albay, ang talakayan sa Basic Food Hygiene Awareness, kabilang ang wastong paghawak, paghahanda, at pag-iimbak ng pagkain upang maiwasan ang food contamination at foodborne illnesses. Ibinahagi rin niya ang iba't ibang programa at serbisyong iniaalok ng DOST upang suportahan ang mga negosyo at institusyon sa pagpapabuti ng kanilang kalidad, kaligtasan, at operasyon.

Samantala, tinalakay naman ni Camilo Arcangel B. Aquino ng Legazpi City Health and Sanitation Office ang mahahalagang probisyon ng Code of Sanitation of the Philippines, na nagsisilbing gabay sa pagpapanatili ng mataas na pamantayan sa kalinisan at kaligtasan ng pagkain.

Nagpahayag ng pasasalamat ang University of Santo Tomas Legazpi, sa pangunguna ni Bb. Katherine T. Mendoza, Director ng Financial Resources Management Office, sa DOST-Albay at sa Health and Sanitation Office ng Lungsod ng Legazpi para sa pagbabahagi ng mahahalagang kaalaman na makatutulong sa patuloy na pagpapabuti ng kanilang food service operations.
Sa pamamagitan ng ganitong mga inisyatiba, patuloy na isinusulong ng DOST-Albay ang food safety culture sa mga institusyong pang-edukasyon at negosyo, bilang suporta sa paghahatid ng ligtas, de-kalidad, at pamantayang pagkain para sa mga mag-aaral, g**o, kawani, at mga bisita ng unibersidad.
