(Legazpi City, August 31, 2026) Nasa 46 na trainees ang nagtapos sa tatlong araw na Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Training na isinagawa ng Albay Public Safety and Emergency Management Office (APSEMO) katuwang ang Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) mula Agosto 26 hanggang 28.

Layon ng pagsasanay na palakasin ang kahandaan at kapasidad ng mga miyembro ng Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) at mga Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (DRRMOs) sa maayos at episyenteng pamamahala ng mga insidente, sakuna at emerhensiya.

Nakatuon ang training sa pagpapalawak ng kaalaman at kasanayan ng mga kalahok sa operasyon ng isang EOC, partikular sa koordinasyon, pagpapalitan ng impormasyon, situational monitoring, decision-making, at incident response.

Kabilang sa mga tinalakay sa trainee manual ang NDRRMC Memorandum No. 131, series of 2018, o ang Guidelines on the Establishment, Operationalization, and Management of Emergency Operations Centers (EOC), gayundin ang NDRRMOC Alert Status, EOC Map, Communication Strengths and Weaknesses, EOC Action Plan Template, planning, sample EOC Action Plan para sa Super Typhoon, at Capability Assessment Checklist.

Inaasahang makatutulong ang EOC Training sa patuloy na pagpapalakas ng disaster preparedness at response capabilities ng lalawigan.

Nakatanggap ang mga nagsipagtapos ng Certificate of Completion mula OCD, at EOC Manual.

(Legazpi City, August 31, 2026) Albayana beauty queen Margarette Siat Briton made history after being crowned the first-ever Miss Interglobal during the pageantโ€™s coronation in Bali, Indonesia, on August 30.

The newly established Miss Interglobal Organization described the pageant as a platform centered on culture, tourism, advocacy, leadership, and global unity under the theme โ€œBeauty on a Mission.โ€

Briton, a native of Tabaco City and a proud daughter of Albay, brought pride to the province through her historic victory and showcased the beauty, confidence, and talent of Bicolanas on the global stage.

Her victory places her name in the history of the newly established pageant, where she will serve as its inaugural queen and carry its ideals as an ambassador of confidence, beauty, and purpose.

Briton also received recognition during the pageant activities in Bali, including the Best Arrival Award.

The pageant was held in Bali, Indonesia, from August 24 to 31, 2026, with more than 50 countries competing for the crown.

Briton previously held the titles Mutya ng Cagsawa 2025 and Miss Kaogma Tourism 2024 and was 3rd Runner-Up in the Search for Daragang Magayon 2023.

She is an alumna of San Jose Community College (SJCC), where she earned a Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English degree in 2022.

Her coronation adds to the growing list of achievements of Albayana women who have represented the province on national and international beauty and pageant stages.

(Legazpi City, August 31, 2026) The Albay Provincial Health Office-Population Development Division (PHO-PDD) spearheaded the 2026 National Family Planning Month Celebration on August 28 at the Rural Health Unit (RHU) Building in Camalig to promote informed reproductive health choices and responsible parenthood.

The celebration was held in partnership with the Department of Health Center for Health Development (DOH CHD) Bicol and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Camalig under the theme, โ€œAng S.M.A.R.T. na Pamilya, Panalo! Tara, Usap Tayo sa Family Planning.โ€

Albay Provincial Health Office Officer-in-Charge Dr. Karl Hegel Ante delivered the opening message, followed by a welcome message from Camalig Vice Mayor Maria Ardhail Baldo.

Camalig Municipal Health Officer Dr. Jennifer N. Lapus and DOH CHD Bicol Assistant Regional Director Joel H. Buenaventura also delivered messages of support, highlighting the role of family planning in helping individuals and couples make informed decisions on reproductive health, family size, and future goals.

A major highlight of the celebration was the Community Talk Show, which provided participants with an open and practical platform to discuss family planning and breastfeeding.

The celebration also featured a Family Planning Service Provision session where trained healthcare providers from the Albay Provincial Health Office and RHU Camalig provided information and services, including progestin subdermal implant insertion and removal, DMPA injection, and family planning counseling.

The service provision component enabled participants to access appropriate information and support from trained healthcare providers, reinforcing the importance of accessible, high-quality family planning services at the community level.

The activity reflected the continuing efforts of the Albay PHO-PDD, together with partner agencies and local health units, to bring accurate family planning information and essential services closer to families and communities across the province.
