(Legazpi City, August 29, 2026) The Provincial Government of Albay has temporarily banned the entry of live hogs, pork, and pork products from Camarines Sur following a resurgence of African Swine Fever cases in the neighboring province.
Governor Noel Ebriega Rosal signed Executive Order No. NER-050 on August 28, 2026, mandating the immediate implementation of the ban.
The directive follows confirmation on August 20 by Department of Agriculture Bicol Information Officer Lovella Guarin that ASF cases had re-emerged in two cities and two municipalities in Camarines Sur, affecting local hog raisers and prompting pig culling operations.
Under the order, all live hogs, pork, and pork products originating from Camarines Sur are strictly prohibited from entering Albay.
Non-compliant shipments will be immediately confiscated or returned to their place of origin.
While Albay continues to maintain its ASF-free status, provincial authorities emphasized the need for strict biosecurity measures to protect the provinceโs livestock industry.
The order also reconstitutes the Provincial Task Force for Animal Disease Emergencies, chaired by the Governor and co-chaired by the Provincial Veterinarian, to oversee prevention measures and monitor containment efforts across local government units.
The Albay Veterinary Office, in coordination with the Department of Agriculture, will enforce the temporary ban at provincial entry points.
