Truly you have stayed with me and will remain a vital part of me. I miss you so much Mama but I know you are happy to be reunited with the love of your life! We will be just fine. You and papa have raised us well and we will all be strong, compassionate, kind and generous like both of you. We will always strive to make you and papa happy and proud! I love you so much Mama!

TIME AND TRUST

In San Lorenzo beach
When Tabaco wasn’t yet a city
You taught me how to swim

I was seven … We took the south road
When children still enjoyed the 10-hour journey
The time when car air conditioners were optional

To strengthen my lungs, you told me
Because the salt in the air is better than Bisolvon
But it was actually a test of trust

One of the best political speeches ever written. Up to now, reading this 271-word masterpiece makes me tear up. 😢 Iba ka talaga, Lincoln. Grabe. And you can read this in less than three minutes. Gettysburg Address will always be in my top 3.

Thank you, papa and mama, for giving me, Nik, ate Lars and Ate Krisel the opportunity to visit Gettysburg in Pennsylvania when we were all in grade school.

Now, the nearest chance to experience how I felt when this was first read to me by mama is to visit Lincoln Memorial. I let Ana read it and she was also impressed and touched by how beautiful the words and sentences were.

Sharing my favorite lines of the Gettysburg Address (November 19, 1863), to wit:

“Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal … “

“ … that these dead shall not have died in vain—that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom — and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”

Wasakan Survey.

We have no one to blame but ourselves. We let this happen. By staying quiet. By allowing ourselves to be relegated to the sidelines. By “sitting on fences” waiting for the s**t to hit the fan. Hope it’s not too late to reverse this.

Hope Leni Robredo finds the courage to run again for president and soon realizes that political narratives favor the brave. At no time in our nation’s unfortunate history has one like her is really needed to lead.

If there are multiple forms of intelligence as stated by psychologists, there is also an impressive range of stupidity.

Siyempre yung “king idiots” yung mga should have known better (those with impressive academic credentials and studied in the best universities here and abroad) but still managed to choose the road to perdition simply because they can’t help themselves but make stupid decisions.

Stop the drama, US Congress! Kahit may “2-week ceasefire” pa kuno to gain leverage sa pagbukas ng Strait of Hormuz. Yes, to all the bleeding heart liberals (Democrats) like Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Ocasio in both its Senate and House: stop the talkies and sound bites! Tigilan niyo na mga satsat ninyo! You also allowed this war to happen. You also allowed him to happen. Bakit di niyo gamitin Konstitusyon ninyo? Daming provisions doon to counter the insanity. And for all the guilt-stricken ‘middle-of-the-road’ Republicans in Congress, you also allowed this to happen. And the whole world is watching and, sadly, the more powerful leaders of the world is as complicit as you are for doing nothing.

When the president of the world’s remaining superpower and supposed leader of the free world threatens that one of the world’s oldest civilizations (Iran’s) will be wiped out tonight, this simply means genocide. And this statement is not rhetoric. This is standing policy. We have all witnessed how this present dispensation’s criminal war policies have been realized of late. There have been actual follow throughs on these illegal and criminal military actions simply because they have been supported by sycophants who make up his team. Of course every single one of them knows better but no one among them has the moral courage to oppose him.

Millions of innocent civilians —- men, women and children —- will be annihilated in a heartbeat. So what does the rest of the world do? Will they just stay quiet and watch where this immoral war brings the 21st Century to? Or will they courageously oppose this deranged thinking and actions with all remedies under international law?

Sadly, the easiest path to an enlightened, steadfast and CORRECT stand is the hardest thing to come by for most countries whose positions and actions on this war issue truly matter. The Philippines has made its stand through its Defense Secretary Gibo Teodoro. Sabi niya, on our behalf, na kelangan asap ang de-escalation ng gyera. But let’s not kid ourselves and assume that our small, insignificant voice will be heard. Ours is one that doesn’t really matter or count here. I simply can’t understand how these world leaders and member states of NATO the the G7 have stood quietly by and continued with their fence-sitting. They have been enablers at best and co-conspirators at worst of this war.

This decade —- starting in 2020 up to the present —- is one where we have never before have witnessed the kind of dumbing down of communities, societies, governments and countries across the world. Oo, kasama tayo dito sa “patimpalak sa kabobohan” na ‘to kaya wag tayo maging ipokrito. Tingnan lang natin ang mga pagpipilian at ang mga malalakas na kandidato sa 2028. Nakakapangilabot, di ba? Pero kung tanga at bobo ka, malamang kilig na kilig ka na naman sa pagiging estupido mo.

Surely world history is replete with examples how humanity has survived waves upon waves of self-destruction. The noteworthy ones were the Dark Ages and World Wars 1 and 2. Throw in neo-fascism and neo-imperialism movements as well as the extremism and weaponization of Islamic throught, religion and politics in the Middle East and Israel’s Netanyahu’s masterclass over the US making the latter its all-too-willing puppet.

Hope we can survive this one because we’re truly one button away from the action of one man who has the power to set in motion all the dreaded nuclear dynamics of a war that will bring all of us closest to total world destruction.

Let’s wait for another 2 weeks then tingnan natin kung meron na namang potentially “world-ending” tantrum. Malamang sa hindi meron because opening the strait is a longshot. Ceasefires are bandaid solutions. US Congress, your Constitution for longterm solutions!
