At first glance, youโd think that this quote is ignoring the idea to not compare, complain, nor criticize since it's being compared to cancer. But, if we take a little closer and try to understand the quote on deeper level, it doesnโt tell you that you should never compare, complain, or criticize because these are normal reactions. Itโs what makes us human after all.
These things can still be used in moderation, to challenge oneself to be better. Comparing? That can inspire growth. Complaining? That is a call to let others know of what the real problem is. And criticizing? That can help improve ideas and behavior.
In real life, these habits are unavoidable. But what makes it dangerous like cancer is when we let it become our default way of thinking, when we let it shape how we think. It will slowly eat away our happiness and contentment. Like how cancer slowly deteriorates the human body.
