Among the areas evaluated were assessed on compliance with the implementation of workplace safety and health measures, enrollment of workers in mandatory social protection programs, observance of transportation and maritime regulations, fire safety requirements, and the availability of welfare and emergency response mechanisms in transport facilities.
Apart from ensuring that transport establishments comply with laws and regulations designed to protect both workers and commuters, the activity also ensured that workers were properly informed of their rights and were made aware of government services and programs available to them through the participating agencies.
Inspection teams conducted information and advocacy activities, engaging transport operators, workers, and stakeholders on their rights and responsibilities under labor laws. Workers were also provided guidance on social security coverage, health insurance benefits, housing and savings programs, wage-related concerns, and employment facilitation services.
The initiative strengthened coordination among national government agencies tasked with labor enforcement, transportation regulation, social protection, public safety, and local governance. More importantly, it upheld the safety, rights, and dignity of transport workers, whose daily work is vital in keeping mobility, trade, tourism, and economic activity moving in the region.
With its continued and wider implementation, the program is set to further enforce compliance and strengthen workersโ rights awareness towards a more dignified transport operation across Bicol. [END] JVEG/CMS
