The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) was initially established on June 13, 1958, as the National Science and Development Board (NSDB).

And on July 31, 1990, in compliance with Republic Act 6959, the Provincial S&T Offices (PSTOs) were established. DOST-V extends its services to the six provinces of Bicol (Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Masbate, and Sorsogon) through PSTOs located in critical areas of the region.

Sa kanyang opening message, binigyang-diin ni DOST-Bicol Regional Director Rommel R. Serrano, CESO III, ang kahalagahan ng pagtingin sa Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week hindi lamang bilang isang pagtitipon, kundi bilang isang pagkakataon upang matuto ng mga bagong kaalaman. Dagdag pa niya, isa sa pinakamahalagang maaaring maiuwi mula sa pagdiriwang ay hindi lamang mga impormasyon kundi ang mga bagong koneksyon, ideya, at tapang na sumubok ng mga bagong bagay. Aniya:

The DOST-Bicol Regional Standards and Testing Laboratory (RSTL) is announcing temporary service changes across its facilities.

These changes are necessary for facility upgrades, required maintenance, and fixing safety concerns inside the laboratories.

𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬:
The Chemistry and Microbiology Laboratories are temporarily closed for all operations, effective March 25, 2026, until further notice. During this period, no testing services or scheduled analyses will be conducted until the closure is lifted.

We appreciate your understanding and patience. We are working hard to ensure the continued safety and quality of our services.

‎𝙎𝙪𝙗𝙤𝙠 𝙣𝙖 𝙎𝙚𝙧𝙗𝙞𝙨𝙮𝙤: 𝙍𝙎𝙏𝙇, 𝙄𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙞𝙡𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙢 𝙨𝙖 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙌𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝘼𝙪𝙙𝙞𝙩 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙖 𝙨𝙖 𝙄𝙎𝙊/𝙄𝙀𝘾 𝟭𝟳𝟬𝟮𝟱 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙞𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚

Matagumpay na isinagawa ang tatlong araw na Internal Quality Audit (IQA) sa Regional Standards and Testing Laboratories (RSTL) bilang bahagi ng patuloy na pagpapatibay ng Laboratory Quality Management System (LQMS) alinsunod sa ISO/IEC 17025:2017. Layunin ng audit na ito na suriin ang bisa ng mga ipinatupad na corrective actions mula sa mga nakaraang pagsusuri at kumpirmahin ang technical competency ng mga potential signatories sa laboratoryo.

Sa tulong ng mga guest technical auditors mula sa DOST-MIMAROPA at DOST VI, sumailalim sa komprehensibong ebalwasyon ang LQMS at mga teknikal requirements ng Chemistry, Metrology, at Microbiology laboratories. Tampok din sa audit ang mga witnessing activities sa calibration kabilang ang aktwal na pagpapakita ng wastong pagsasagawa nito sa Metrology Laboratory at mga testing procedure sa Chemistry Laboratory upang patunayan ang technical competence ng mga personnel ng ahensya.

Ang gawaing ito ay bahagi ng pagpatuloy na pagsisikap ng DOST-Bicol na mapanatili ang mataas na pamantayan ng kalidad ng pagsusuri at pagkacalibrate, at upang matiyak ang maasahan at efficient na serbisyong naipagkakaloob sa publiko.

Naga City, Camarines Sur | Hindi nagpaawat ang LabMove Project ng DOST-Bicol sa pag-ikot nito sa lalawigan. Matapos ang matagumpay na pagbisita sa Naga City Science High School, tinungo naman ng mobile laboratory ang Camarines Sur National High School.
Sa pananatili nito sa paaralan, direktang nasaksihan ng mga mag-aaral ang iba’t ibang teknikal na serbisyong hatid ng proyekto. Itinampok din ang Regional Standards and Testing Laboratories (RSTL), na nagpakilala sa mga proseso sa Chemistry, Microbiology, at Metrology.
Ang serye ng mga pagbisitang ito ay bahagi ng paghahanda ng DOST-Bicol para sa full operations ng proyekto sa Hunyo 2026. Sa ngayon, nakarating na ito sa tatlong probinsya at apat na paaralan sa buong Kabikolan, at inaasahang madaragdagan pa sa mga susunod na buwan, kung saan Albay, Catanduanes, at Masbate ang mga susunod na bibisitahin.
