Tactical OpsNews | TOG 5, PAF Reservists Assist OCD in Water Distribution Operations during Mayon Volcano Unrest
Tactical Operations Group 5 (TOG 5) and reservists from the 33rd Air Force Group Reserve (AFGR) joined government disaster response efforts in the distribution of bottled drinking water to residents affected by ashfall caused by the recent activity of Mayon Volcano in Albay.
The humanitarian operation was spearheaded by the Office of Civil Defense Region 5 (OCD 5), following the arrival of thousands of bottled water intended for affected communities in the municipality of Guinobatan.
According to OCD 5, an initial 13,000 bottled drinking water containers arrived on May 2, 2026, and were immediately distributed to residents affected by volcanic ashfall. An additional 7,000 bottled water containers were delivered the following day, bringing the total assistance to 20,000 bottled water containers or approximately 132,000 liters of clean drinking water provided to Guinobatan, Albay.
Aside from Guinobatan, OCD 5 also distributed 2,000 bottled water containers each to the municipality of Camalig and the city of Ligao.
TOG 5 personnel and PAF reservists worked alongside members of the Philippine Army’s 49th Infantry Battalion and 31st Infantry Battalion, Bureau of Fire Protection Region 5, and Police Regional Office 5 to ensure the immediate transport and delivery of the water supplies to affected residents.
The participation of the Philippine Air Force active personnel and reservists demonstrated the importance of inter-agency cooperation and the vital role of reserve units in humanitarian assistance and disaster response operations. Their efforts contributed to the timely delivery of essential resources to communities experiencing the effects of volcanic activity in the province of Albay.
OCD 5 expressed its gratitude to all participating agencies and responders for their swift assistance and dedication in serving the affected communities.
