Pasay City — A 2014 warrant of arrest resurfaced during arrival processing at NAIA Terminal 1, leading to the arrest of a 73-year-old passenger from Honolulu, Hawaii on August 9, 2026.

An outstanding warrant appeared in the Bureau of Immigration (BI) system, prompting BI personnel to intercept the passenger and coordinate with NAIA Police Station 1 (NAIA PS 1).

After verification, he was turned over to NAIA PS 1 for investigation and joint implementation of the warrant with the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, NCRFU SMMDFU.

During the investigation, the accused acknowledged that he was aware of the case filed against him. He explained that he stopped providing financial support to his former partner after she allegedly demanded that half of his salary be given to her.

Court records show that the warrant was issued on February 5, 2014, in connection with an alleged violation of Section 5(i) in relation to Section 6(f) of Republic Act No. 9262, or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004. Bail for the case was fixed at PhP24,000.00.

Accused is now under the custody of CIDG, NCRFU SMMDFU for documentation and further legal action.

PNP-BOC JOINT OPERATION SEIZES OVER ₱4 MILLION WORTH OF SMUGGLED CI******ES IN ZAMBOANGA

A joint operation by the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Bureau of Customs (BOC) resulted in the seizure of more than ₱4 million worth of suspected smuggled ci******es along the shoreline of Barangay Patalon, Zamboanga City on August 8, 2026.

The operation, conducted by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Regional Field Unit 9, Police Station 10 of the Zamboanga City Police Office, and the Bureau of Customs 9, resulted in the recovery of 24 master cases and 30 reams of suspected smuggled ci******es with an estimated market value of ₱4,041,932.

Two Filipino males, both of legal age and identified only by the aliases “Alnagder” and “Pandi,” were reportedly present during the operation. Upon noticing the approaching authorities, the two allegedly abandoned the items and fled on foot. Recovered ci******es were placed under the custody of CIDG RFU 9 for proper disposition and appropriate legal action.

PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. underscored the importance of sustained coordination among law enforcement agencies in keeping illicit goods from reaching communities.

“Kapag sama-sama ang mga ahensya, mas mabilis nating naaagapan ang mga ganitong gawain. We want our operations to be timely, focused, and grounded on the law—because every successful interception helps protect legitimate businesses and the public,” PGen Nartatez said.

The operation is part of the PNP’s continuing enforcement efforts under its Focused Agenda, particularly Enhanced Managing Police Operations, which emphasizes coordinated and responsive police action against activities that may affect public safety and economic security.

Under the leadership of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., the PNP continues to strengthen its coordination with partner government agencies in protecting communities, supporting legitimate commerce, and ensuring that enforcement efforts are carried out with respect for the law and due process.

The PNP will sustain its partnership with the BOC and other concerned agencies in addressing smuggling activities, consistent with the “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman,” as the police organization continues to deliver responsive, lawful, and results-oriented service to the Filipino people.

PNP ARRESTS THREE WANTED PERSONS FACING MURDER CASES, INCLUDING ₱140K REWARD SUBJECT

Three wanted persons facing murder-related charges were arrested in separate police operations across the country on August 8, 2026, including one who carried a ₱140,000.00 government reward.

In Silay City, Negros Occidental, police arrested a Filipino of legal age who is ranked No. 8 Most Wanted Person of Police Regional Office Negros Island Region. He was apprehended by Silay City Police Station personnel by virtue of a warrant for Murder, with no bail recommended.

In Pikit, Cotabato, police arrested another Filipino of legal age, who is the No. 9 Most Wanted Person of Police Regional Office 12. He was apprehended by personnel of the Pikit Municipal Police Station and 2nd Cotabato Provincial Mobile Force Company, with support from Regional Intelligence Unit 12 and Regional Intelligence Division 12. He is facing Multiple Murder with Multiple Frustrated Murder, with no bail recommended.

Meanwhile, in Pasig City, police arrested a Filipino of legal age listed as the No. 4 Most Wanted Person of Police Regional Office 1, who was covered by a ₱140,000.00 reward pursuant to DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2021-022. He was apprehended by personnel of the Vigan City Police Station, Provincial Intelligence Unit, and 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company of the Ilocos Sur Police Provincial Office, with support from the District Intelligence Division and Eastern Police District, by virtue of a warrant for Murder, with no bail recommended.

The arrests are part of the PNP’s continuing campaign to locate wanted persons through coordinated and intelligence-supported operations, consistent with the PNP Focused Agenda under Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO).

Chief PNP Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said police units must remain persistent in locating wanted persons while ensuring that every arrest is conducted within the law.

“Hindi natatapos ang trabaho sa pagkuha ng warrant. We have to locate the person, make the arrest properly, and turn him over to the proper authorities. That is how we make police operations both effective and accountable,” PGen Nartatez said.

The PNP’s sustained efforts support the peace and order priorities of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and reinforce its commitment to “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman,” through lawful, responsive and accountable police service.
