The Local Youth Development Office, in partnership with the Sangguniang Kabataan Poblacion, successfully celebrated the Linggo ng Kabataan 2026, bringing young people together through activities that celebrate their talents, strengthen their voices, and promote meaningful youth participation.

Anchored on the theme “Youth Advancing Multilateral Cooperation through Technology and Partnerships,” this year’s celebration highlighted the important role of young people in building stronger communities through collaboration, innovation, and active participation.

From sports and recreational activities to learning sessions and youth-centered initiative such as coastal clean-up, the celebration provided opportunities for young people to connect, compete, learn, and make their voices heard.

More than a celebration, Linggo ng Kabataan is a reminder that the youth are not simply the leaders of tomorrow—they are partners in shaping our communities today.💚✨

To all the young people who participated, volunteered, supported, and shared their energy throughout the celebration, thank you for making Linggo ng Kabataan 2026 truly meaningful.

📚𝒀𝑶𝑼𝑻𝑯 𝑺𝑯𝑶𝑼𝑳𝑫 𝑲𝑵𝑶𝑾: 𝑮𝒖𝒊𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒉 𝑻𝒐𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒔 𝑰𝒏𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒆𝒅 𝑪𝒉𝒐𝒊𝒄𝒆𝒔

Knowledge empowers young people to make informed choices, protect themselves, and become responsible members of the community. 💚

For the third consecutive year, the Local Youth Development Office successfully conducted the Youth Should Know Series, continuing its commitment to equipping young people with knowledge, awareness, and conversations on issues that matter to them.

This year’s series brought together passionate resource speakers who shared their expertise and insights on topics every young person should know.

🩺 Mr. Homer Durante (Nurse III) — HIV/AIDS Awareness
🧠 Ms. Kaye April N. Uribe, RPm — Mental Health Awareness
🌱 Mr. Dave B. Singcol (MENRO-Designate) — Environmental Protection
🌪️ Mr. Rafael Lucban (LDRRMO) — Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM)
⚖️ PCPL Karen Ann F. Bohol (Chief WCPD) — Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC)

The activity would not have been as meaningful without the enthusiastic participation of the students of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP). Their openness to learn, willingness to engage, and active participation made every discussion more purposeful and impactful.

Through Youth Should Know, we create spaces where young people can learn, ask questions, speak up, and better understand important issues that affect their lives—from mental health and HIV/AIDS awareness to VAWC, disaster preparedness, and environmental protection.

Because being informed is being empowered. 🌱💪

The Local Government Unit of Leyte, through the Local Youth Development Office, successfully conducted the Distribution of School Supplies to two schools within the municipality to support our young learners as they pursue their education.

This initiative reflects the Municipality’s continued commitment to supporting students, promoting education, and creating opportunities for every young person to learn, grow, and succeed.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of this initiative. Together, let us continue to build a community where every learner is given the tools and encouragement they need to reach their full potential.

The Local Government Unit of Leyte through the Local Youth Development Office successfully conducted the Adolescent Responsibility and Sexuality Education through the Neneng and Biboy Puppet Show with the Alternative Learning System (ALS) Students as participants last July 3, 2026.

The Municipality continues its pursuit of promoting responsible, informed, and empowered young individuals by providing adolescents with age-appropriate knowledge and meaningful learning opportunities on responsible relationships, sexuality, health, and personal well-being.

We extend our gratitude to Governor Carlos Jericho "Icot" Petilla, and the Provincial Population Office headed by Mrs. Melchora Cawile, and to Mr. Rodel S. Catapal, PYDO, Ma'am Nicole S. Pedrera and their team for their continued effort and innovative educational initiatives.
