The 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐞𝐲𝐭𝐞, 𝐋𝐞𝐲𝐭𝐞 extended immediate assistance to families affected by a 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 that occurred on 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟑𝟎, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, 𝐢𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐲 𝐏𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐨𝐧, by where 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝.

As part of the LGU’s continuing commitment to provide support during times of adversity, relief goods were distributed to the affected families to help address their immediate needs following the incident.

The LGU recognizes the hardship and uncertainty brought by such unforeseen circumstances. Through this assistance, the Municipal Government hopes to extend not only essential support but also a message of compassion and solidarity to the affected families as they begin the difficult process of recovery.

The monitoring focused on the implementation of the LGU’s environmental programs and initiatives, particularly on solid waste management, environmental compliance, and other concerns related to the protection and preservation of the municipality’s environment.

As part of the activity, the 𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐑-𝐄𝐌𝐁 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐕𝐈𝐈𝐈 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦 also paid a courtesy visit to 𝙈𝙖𝙮𝙤𝙧 𝙀𝙣𝙜𝙧. 𝙅𝙚𝙙 𝘾. The Municipal Accounting Office facilitated the monthly meeting of Barangay Treasurers, attended by Punong Barangays and Barangay Treasurers of the Municipality of Leyte.

The meeting focused on the implementation of the Bawat Barangay Makikinabang Program (BBMP) pursuant to DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2026-038, which provides each barangay with a ₱200,000 allocation to support education and priority community needs.

Under the program, ₱100,000 will fund the Bagong Pilipinas Barangay Scholars Program, providing five incoming fourth-year college students per barangay with a ₱20,000 Finisher Fund for essential academic expenses. The remaining ₱100,000 will support eligible barangay development priorities, including public service, administrative, streetlighting, and disaster risk reduction equipment.

The meeting underscored the importance of transparent, accountable, and efficient fund utilization, ensuring that the program’s benefits reach deserving students and communities while strengthening grassroots governance.

𝗣𝗔𝗡𝗢𝗢𝗥𝗜𝗡: Noong magsara ang food and beverage franchise nina Sherwin at Treza Seva, hindi lang tindahan nila ang nawala. Kasama na rin ang pag-asa na makapagsimulang muli dahil sa libu-libong naipong tax liabilities.

Hanggang narinig nila ang one-time tax abatement program ng BIR.

Sa ilalim ng programang ito, ang mga microtaxpayers o ang mga may taunang gross sales na mas mababa sa P3 million ay maaaring i-settle ang kanilang mga lumobong tax liabilities na hindi lalagpas sa P80,000.00 per taxable year sa pamamagitan ng pagbabayad ng abatement fee na P5,000.00 kada taon.

Para sa mag-asawang Seva, ang kanilang pag-avail ng programang ito ay nagbigay pag-asa sa kanila na makapagsimulang muli sa negosyo.

Tulad ng sinabi ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. sa kanyang SONA, ang one time tax abatement program ay ginawa ng BIR upang bigyan ng pagkakataon ang mga microentrepreneurs na muling bumangon mula sa kahirapan ng nakaraang mga taon.
