Baay National High School successfully hosted the 4th Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) today, an essential event for reinforcing disaster preparedness and safety. The drill was led by our Principal, Mr. Wilfredo M. Gandeza, and joined by several municipal agencies, including the MDRRMO Licuan-Baay headed by Mr. Erosbon L. Sabedo, Rural Health Unit of Licuan-Baay headed by Dr. Ruvi Balderama Bernal, LB Municipal Fire Station headed by SFO1 Jawaharlar B. Borja, and PNP MPS Licuan-Baay headed by PCPT Elizalde O. Kibayen, OIC.
The drill featured a comprehensive simulation, where students participated by performing the duck, cover, and hold method and evacuating to safe areas. After the evacuation, a thorough headcount was taken, ensuring all students, teachers, and staff were accounted for.
The rescue teams, which included the BFP, PNP, RHU, and MDRRMO, were equipped with stretchers, support tools, bandages, and first aid kits to simulate the rescue of injured individuals. Several students were strategically placed around the school with simulated injuries (complete with demo blood and a casualty), and the response teams acted quickly to carry out first aid and victim transfers.
One of the highlight scenarios featured the BFP Licuan-Baay firemen and MDRRMO Personnel, who donned full gear with oxygen masks to demonstrate fire extinguishing techniques. Their actions were a key part of the fire simulation and showcased their readiness in handling real-life fire emergencies.
In another dramatic rescue scene, the firemen also performed a patient transfer by rappelling, safely bringing a simulated patient down from the second floor using ropes and their swift team coordination. This impressive demonstration highlighted the BFP's rapid response and the expertise of our emergency teams.
The event concluded with an orientation by SFO1 Jawaharlar B. Borja on the importance of safety and disaster response, emphasizing how essential it is to stay prepared and vigilant during emergencies.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all our partners for their support in making this 4th Quarter NSED a success. Your teamwork and dedication ensure that our school community is always ready and well-prepared for any disaster. Together, we continue to build a safer and more resilient Baay National High School.
