Renewed in Faith, Strengthened in Mission at Magsaysay Elementary School

Yesterday, the faculty and staff of Magsaysay Elementary School gathered for a meaningful recollection led by Rev. Fr. Jake J. Rovillos, creating a sacred space for reflection, renewal, and spiritual growth.

The session highlighted the importance of Lent as a season of prayer, reflection, and a heartfelt return to God. It reminded everyone that the journey of faith is not without challenges, as it passes through the cross before reaching the joy of resurrection.

Rev. Fr. Rovillos also shared a deeper understanding of the cross, explaining that carrying it symbolizes sacrifice, love, perseverance, and faithfulness. In many ways, teachers embody this daily through their dedication and service to their learners.

The mission of teachers was emphasized as a noble calling. Teachers are builders of the future who shape values, nurture dreams, and form lives within the classroom, making their work both a profession and a mission.

The recollection also reminded everyone that no sacrifice is ever wasted. Every effort, from preparing lessons late at night to patiently guiding struggling learners, is an act of love that is seen and valued by God.

Above all, the reflection on the journey from the cross to the resurrection brought hope and inspiration, reminding everyone that sacrifices lead to transformation and that faith brings light even in times of difficulty.
This recollection served as a meaningful reminder of the purpose, passion, and faith that continue to guide every educator in their mission.

Magsaysay Elementary School Joins the First Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill 2026

On March 12, 2026, at 3:30 PM, Magsaysay Elementary School actively participated in the First Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill, reinforcing the importance of preparedness during calamities. Learners, faculty, staff, and even parents around the school followed proper health and safety protocols while practicing the duck, cover, and hold procedure. This ensured that everyone knew how to protect themselves safely during an actual earthquake.

To make the drill more realistic, a simulation of injured learners was conducted, with dramatized injuries to the head and body. This allowed our first-aid-trained teachers and learners to demonstrate and apply their skills in providing immediate care to those affected. Some learners even practiced administering first aid under supervision, helping them understand the critical role of quick response and teamwork during emergencies.

Participating in this nationwide drill highlighted how important it is to be prepared, vigilant, and organized when facing natural calamities. It reminded our school community that safety is a shared responsibility and that every second counts in protecting lives. By practicing these procedures regularly, Magsaysay Elementary School continues to ensure that learners, staff, and parents are ready to respond calmly and effectively in the face of earthquakes or other emergencies.

Let this serve as a reminder that preparedness saves lives, and practicing safety today ensures a safer tomorrow for our school community.
