As Southeast Asia commemorates ASEAN Month 2026, Pangasinan State University stands in solidarity with the entire nation in fostering unity, innovation and sustainable progress.

This year’s celebration holds immense pride as the Philippines takes on the ASEAN Chairmanship under the theme “Navigating Our Future, Together”. It serves as a timely reminder that through shared values, cross-border collaboration and collective action, we can build a resilient and inclusive future for all.

PSU President Dr. Elbert M. Galas said this university-wide celebration reinforces PSU’s commitment to advancing strategic and functional internationalization.

𝙋𝙎𝙐 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙨 𝙖 𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙜 𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙠 𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙄𝙍𝘾𝙊𝙉 𝙂𝘾𝙀𝘿 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

Pangasinan State University proudly made its mark at the 3rd GCC International Research Conference on Global Citizenship Education held from July 29 to 31, 2026 at Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

Our very own Dr. Cristeta C. Dulos, PSU University Director for GCED, brought purpose and direction to the event as she expertly steered parallel policy workshops. Guiding delegates through structured discussions on key GCED priority areas, her leadership helped transform collaborative insights into actionable policy briefs for the Philippines.

Adding to PSU’s strong representation, Ms. Joan Elizabeth Ibay-Pillora, GCED Focal Person for PSU Urdaneta City Campus, served as substitute presenter for the research paper entitled "Perception and Behavior Towards Peace Education among Tertiary Students."

These impactful engagements were made possible through the steadfast leadership and unwavering advocacy of University President Dr. Elbert M. Galas. His strong commitment to fostering internationalization and peace education continues to open global avenues for PSU educators and researchers to shine.

Today, the OVPLIA family celebrates the birthday of 𝘿𝙧. 𝙄𝙖𝙣 𝘿. 𝙀𝙫𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙖, OIC Deputy Executive Director and Chief of Staff of the Office of the Chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

As our former Vice President for Local and International Affairs, Dr. Evangelista played a transformative role in advancing PSU's internationalization agenda, strengthening our global partnerships, and creating meaningful opportunities for our students, faculty, and the entire academic community. Pangasinan State University promotes the wise use of resources, waste reduction, and encourages sustainable practices.

This goal is reflected in different campus initiatives that promote environmental responsibility. PSU encourages students, faculty and staff and the community to practice waste segregation, reduce plastic use, and participate in recycling programs. The university also promotes energy conservation by using efficient lighting, regulating electricity use, and supporting environmental awareness activities. By integrating sustainability into school operations and student learning, PSU becomes a model of how institutions can help protect the environment.
Our University President Dr. Elbert M. Galas strongly supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 12: Responsible Consumption and Production through the initiatives of the Office of Vice President for Local and International Affairs (LIA), headed by Dr. Renato V. Salcedo.

Another milestone unfolds as University President Dr. Elbert M. Galas is named a National Semifinalist for the 2026 Gawad Pagasa under the Civil Service Commission's Gawad Lingkod Bayani Awards.

Among the national semifinalists, Dr. Galas is the lone representative from Region I, marking a significant distinction for the region in one of the Civil Service Commission's highest recognition programs for exemplary public service.

The Gawad Pagasa honors government employees and groups whose innovative ideas, collaborative initiatives, and creative solutions have significantly improved public service delivery. It recognizes public servants whose leadership and innovation create meaningful and lasting impact in government.

This latest recognition builds on his previous distinction as a Civil Service Commission Regional Office I Dangal ng Bayan Awardee, conferred during the 123rd Philippine Civil Service Anniversary in 2023, under the Honor Awards Program (HAP). The award recognized his exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to public service.

Dr. Galas' inclusion in this year's national semifinalists reflects his continuing pursuit of transformative leadership, institutional innovation, and excellence in public service—principles that have shaped his vision for Pangasinan State University and the communities it serves.
