BAGONG SILANG NA SANGGOL, NASAGIP NG KAPULISAN SA TACLOBAN CITY

Mula sa isang paper bag sa loob ng nakaparadang multicab, isang bagong silang na sanggol ang nabigyan ng panibagong pagkakataon sa buhay matapos agad na rumesponde ang kapulisan sa Tacloban City noong gabi ng Mayo 12, 2026.

Sa ilalim ng pamumuno ni PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., muling ipinakita ng Philippine National Police ang kahalagahan ng mabilis na pag-aksyon at malasakit sa komunidad nang ligtas na marescue ng Police Regional Office 8 (PRO 😎 ang isang inabandonang sanggol sa Sta. Elena, Tacloban City.

Ayon sa ulat, dakong alas-10:32 ng gabi nang makadiskubre ang isang concerned citizen ng sanggol na nakalagay sa loob ng paper bag na iniwan sa isang nakaparadang multicab sa labas ng kanilang bahay. Agad itong ini-report sa mga awtoridad na naging daan upang makarating kaagad sa lugar ang mga miyembro ng City Mobile Force Company (CMFC) at Police Station 3 ng Tacloban City Police Office.

Sa pagdating ng mga pulis, agad nilang siniguro ang kaligtasan ng sanggol at isinagawa ang kinakailangang pagresponde upang mabigyan ito ng agarang atensyon. Kasunod nito, nakipag-ugnayan ang Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) sa City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) at Tacloban Rescue Unit (TACRU) para sa wastong pangangalaga at medikal na pagsusuri sa sanggol.

Batay sa paunang assessment, hindi pa napuputol ang pusod ng sanggol at may bakas pa ng tuyong dugo sa buhok nito, indikasyong ito ay kasisilang pa lamang bago iniwan sa naturang lugar.

Nartatez Jr., “The PNP remains committed to protecting the vulnerable and responding to situations that threaten life and safety.” Aniya, “Hindi lamang pagpapatupad ng batas ang tungkulin ng kapulisan kundi maging pag-aaruga at pagprotekta sa mga nangangailangan ng agarang tulong.”

Ipinakita rin ng insidenteng ito ang patuloy na pagpapatibay ng PNP sa mas makatao at mas malapit na ugnayan sa komunidad sa ilalim ng PNP Focused Agenda—isang gabay tungo sa mas maayos at mas responsive na serbisyo-pulisya. Sa pamamagitan ng Enhanced Managing Police Operations at Active Community Support, mas napapalawak ang kakayahan ng kapulisan na makaresponde agad sa mga sitwasyong nangangailangan ng agarang aksyon at malasakit sa mamamayan.

Habang nagpapatuloy ang imbestigasyon upang matukoy kung sino ang nag-iwan sa sanggol, tiniyak ng PRO 8 na mananatiling prayoridad ang kaligtasan at kapakanan ng bata habang ito ay nasa pangangalaga ng mga kinauukulang ahensya.

Sa patuloy na pagpapaigting ng PNP sa pagprotekta sa buhay at kapakanan ng bawat mamamayan, tinitiyak ng kapulisan sa publiko ang “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong mabilis, tapat, at nararamdaman.”

PNP DEG IMPLEMENTED A SEARCH WARRANT IN BOLINAO, PANGASINAN; PHP238K WORTH OF SHABU SEIZED

On May 14, 2026, at 9:31 AM, operatives of PNP-DEG SOU1, together with PIU Pangasinan, PIT Pangasinan, RIU 1, RID PRO 1, PDEA RO1, PDEA Pangasinan, PPDEU, RPDEU 1, and Bolinao Police Station, in coordination with IMEG Luzon Field Unit, successfully implemented a search warrant issued by RTC Branch 54, against a High Value Individual (HVI) in Brgy. Luciente 2.0, Bolinao, Pangasinan.
The operation resulted in the seizure of approximately 35 grams of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia with an estimated Standard Drug Price of Php 238,000.00.
The inventory and markings of the confiscated evidence were conducted at the scene in the presence of the suspect, elected barangay officials, and a representative of DOJ-NPS.
The suspect and the seized evidence are now in police custody for proper documentation and the filing of charges for violation of RA 9165.

HIGH-VALUE DRUG SUSPECT ARRESTED IN CEBU BUY-BUST; ₱10.88M SHABU SEIZED

The Philippine National Police, under the leadership of PNP Chief, PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., arrested a High-Value Individual in a buy-bust operation conducted on May 13, 2026 in Cebu City, Cebu, for violation of Republic Act 9165.

The operation was conducted by the PNP Drug Enforcement Group Special Operations Unit 7, in coordination with local police and other law enforcement units. The suspect was arrested after transacting with an undercover operative during the entrapment operation.

Seized during the operation were approximately 1,600 grams of suspected shabu valued at ₱10,880,000.00, along with the buy-bust money and other non-drug items. The evidence was turned over to the Regional Forensic Unit 7 for laboratory examination, while the suspect was taken to Mambaling Police Station 11 for documentation and filing of charges.

The operation highlights the continued implementation of the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly on enhanced managing police operations and integrity monitoring, reinforcing sustained action against high-value drug personalities and illegal drug networks.

“The PNP remains firm in its campaign against illegal drugs. We will continue to pursue those who violate the law and endanger communities,” said PNP Chief, PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr.

“Patuloy ang ating kampanya laban sa ilegal na droga. Hindi tayo titigil hanggang mapanagot ang lahat ng sangkot,” dagdag ni PGEN Nartatez.

PNP NETS ₱50.8M SHABU, 9 ARRESTED IN MULTI-REGION ILLEGAL DRUG OPERATIONS

The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported a series of successful anti-illegal drug operations conducted across several regions on May 12 to early May 13, 2026, resulting in the arrest of nine high value individuals and the seizure of approximately 7,470 grams of suspected shabu with a total standard drug price value of PhP50,796,000.00.

In Cavite (PRO 4A), operatives carried out a buy-bust operation in Dasmariñas City on May 12, 2026, leading to the arrest of three individuals. Authorities recovered around 300 grams of suspected shabu worth PhP2.04 million, along with buy-bust money and other non-drug items.

In Zamboanga City, a larger operation at a basement parking area of a commercial establishment in Brgy. Zone IV, yielded approximately 5,000 grams of suspected shabu with a standard drug price of PhP34 million. Three individuals were arrested during the operation conducted by joint units from regional and national drug enforcement teams.

In Quezon City, a buy-bust operation in the vicinity of Sto. Domingo Church in Brgy. Sto. Domingo resulted in the arrest of two individuals and the confiscation of approximately 250 grams of suspected shabu valued at PhP1.7 million. Authorities also recovered a 9mm firearm with ammunition during the operation.

In Iloilo, another buy-bust operation in Pavia on May 12, 2026 led to the arrest of two legal-age Filipino individuals and the seizure of around 320 grams of suspected shabu worth PhP2.176 million.

In Cebu City, a buy-bust operation conducted on May 13, 2026 in Brgy. Duljo-Fatima led to the arrest of one legal-age Filipino individual and the seizure of approximately 1,600 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated standard drug price of PhP10.88 million.

PNP Chief, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., commended the operating units for their sustained efforts, emphasizing that these achievements reflect the organization’s continued commitment to dismantling drug networks nationwide.

“Ang ating mga operatiba ay patuloy na nagsasagawa ng operasyon laban sa ilegal na droga. We are sending a clear message that the PNP remains relentless, tuloy-tuloy ang ating kampanya para sa mas ligtas na komunidad,” he said.

These accomplishments are aligned with the PNP Focused Agenda under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, reinforcing intelligence-driven and coordinated field actions against illegal drugs.

All arrested individuals and seized pieces of evidence are now under the custody of respective operating units for proper documentation and filing of appropriate charges.

The PNP reaffirmed its commitment to sustain intensified law enforcement operations nationwide under the banner of “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.”

WANTED PERSON IN 2025 MURDER CASE VOLUNTARILY SURRENDERS IN BULACAN

A 37-year-old Filipino male voluntarily surrendered following the service of a warrant of arrest for murder in Baliwag, Bulacan on the afternoon of May 12, 2026.

Personnel of the Baliwag City Police Station, through a tracker team, facilitated the voluntary surrender of the accused after sustained intelligence monitoring and continuous coordination with his family and close contacts. The accused is reportedly a member of a local criminal group operating in Bulacan.

The warrant of arrest, issued by the Regional Trial Court (RTC), Third Judicial Region, Branch 9 in Malolos, Bulacan on January 6, 2026, carries no bail recommended for the murder case involving an incident in June 2025 in Baliwag, Bulacan.

PNP Chief, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., commended the operating unit for the accomplishment, underscoring the importance of sustained police effort and coordination in locating wanted persons.

“Hinihikayat natin ang mga taong may kinakaharap na kaso na makipagtulungan at sumunod sa batas. Ang boluntaryong pagsuko ay mahalagang hakbang upang maharap nang maayos ang kanilang mga kaso sa tamang proseso ng hustisya,” he said.

The accused was turned over to the custody of the Baliwag City Police Station for documentation and proper disposition.

The successful operation forms part of the PNP’S continuing implementation of its Focused Agenda under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, reinforcing intelligence-driven initiatives and targeted law enforcement actions in support of public safety objectives aligned with the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

PNP MOURNS FALLEN COP IN NEGROS OCCIDENTAL ANTI-DRUG OPERATION

The Philippine National Police, under the leadership of PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., expresses deep sorrow over the death of a police non-commissioned officer and the injury of two other personnel following a violent encounter during a buy-bust operation conducted on the evening of May 11, 2026 in Barangay Talaptap, La Castellana, Negros Occidental.

Personnel of the Station Drug Enforcement Team of La Castellana Municipal Police Station conducted an anti-illegal drug operation against a 41-year-old male street-level drug suspect. During the arrest, the suspect violently resisted and suddenly attacked the operating personnel using a bladed weapon. In a further escalation, the suspect’s 68-year-old mother allegedly joined the assault and assaulted the responding officers using bladed weapons.

The encounter resulted in the death of one police non-commissioned officer due to fatal stab wounds sustained during the attack. A deputy police officer sustained multiple stab wounds and is currently confined in stable condition at a hospital in Bacolod City, while another operative suffered minor injuries. The suspect sustained injuries and is now under police custody at a local health facility, while the female co-accused is likewise under police custody pending the filing of appropriate criminal charges.

Recovered from the operation were several sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated street drug value of ₱47,600.00, along with buy-bust money, drug paraphernalia, and bladed weapons believed to have been used during the confrontation. The crime scene was immediately secured, while forensic personnel from the Negros Island Region conducted proper processing and documentation. Investigation and preparation of charges are ongoing.

“This incident underscores the grave risks our personnel face in the performance of their duty. We honor the bravery and sacrifice of our fallen officer who gave his life in the service of the Filipino people,” said PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr.

“Hindi matitinag ang PNP sa pagtupad ng aming tungkulin laban sa ilegal na droga at karahasan. Sisiguraduhin naming makakamit ang hustisya para sa ating nasawing kapulisan,” dagdag pa ni PGEN Nartatez.

The incident also underscores the operational risks faced by personnel conducting anti-illegal drug operations.

“Patuloy ang aming paninindigan na protektahan ang komunidad sa kabila ng panganib na kinakaharap ng aming hanay. Sa kabila ng trahedyang ito, mananatiling matatag ang PNP sa pagsugpo sa ilegal na droga at krimen,” PGEN Nartatez stated.

WARRANTS SERVED AGAINST CTG PERSONALITY FOLLOWING SECURITY OPERATION IN MASBATE

The Philippine National Police (PNP), through the Police Regional Office 5 (PRO5), successfully implemented multiple outstanding warrants of arrest against a ranking member of a communist terrorist group (CTG) following an armed encounter in Palanas, Masbate.

The suspect, identified only through the alias “Luding,” 58 years old, was apprehended after government troops encountered armed CTG members during security operations in Barangay Miabas on May 10, 2026. The suspect sustained injuries during the encounter and was immediately provided medical attention.

Police units in Masbate subsequently coordinated the implementation of multiple warrants involving cases for murder and attempted murder issued by different courts over the past years.

The operation highlights the strong coordination between the PNP and the Armed Forces of the Philippines in sustaining peace and order efforts in the region. It also supports the whole-of-nation approach of the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in addressing insurgency and protecting communities.

PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. commended the operating units for the successful implementation of the warrants.

“Patuloy nating ipatutupad ang batas nang may katatagan, ngunit laging may paggalang sa karapatang pantao at due process. We remain committed to protecting communities and ensuring that those facing criminal charges are properly brought before the courts,” PGen Nartatez said.
