In a landmark move toward administrative transparency and efficiency, the Pangasinan State University (PSU) Records Management Office, officially participated in the 10th Synchronized Disposal of Valueless Records held on May 5, 2026, at the Pangasinan Training and Development Center II.

This event represents a significant breakthrough for the institution as it marks PSUโ€™s first official participation in coordination with the Provincial Archives and Records Center (PARC), the National Archives of the Philippines (NAP), and the Commission on Audit (COA). The activity directly supports the university's strict compliance with Republic Act No. 9470, also known as the National Archives of the Philippines Act of 2007, and serves to strengthen institutional accountability and proper records management.

The systematic disposal process involved approximately 12 sacks of documents that were housed in the RMO Storage Room and had long exceeded their mandated retention periods. These records included routine correspondence, office orders, and employment files dating back to the university's early decades, all of which were certified as valueless and no longer linked to any pending administrative or judicial cases. To ensure the highest standards of transparency and integrity, the activity was witnessed by PSU State Auditor Mr. Abraham F. Junio from the Commission on Audit, NAP representative Ms. Vanessa Lim, and URMO Director Dr. Julius Cesar O. Mamaril

This historic initiative was made possible through the unwavering support and visionary leadership of University President Dr. Elbert M. Galas. Under his administration, PSU continues to prioritize compliance with national archival standards and the optimization of university resources. By championing the first-ever RDS, Dr. Galas has empowered the University Records Management Office, to promote better utilization of storage space and institutionalize a culture of professional records governance across all campuses.

Pangasinan State University (PSU) officially commenced the Academic-Cultural Exchange in Business and English (A.C.E.-B.E.) on April 30, 2026, marking a significant milestone in international academic cooperation.

The program, which ran until May 2, 2026, served as a dynamic platform for five student delegates from Nghe An University (NAU), Vietnam, to engage in a rich exchange of ideas and culture with the PSUnian community.

Throughout the exchange, the student delegates from NAU immersed themselves in a series of collaborative academic sessions and cultural workshops at the PSU Lingayen Campus Audio-Visual Room.

Together with PSU students from the different campuses, the visitors participated in interactive classroom observations and specialized activities designed to foster mutual understanding in the fields of language and business. These sessions went beyond traditional learning, featuring "Culture and Language in Action" segments where students engaged in icebreakers and dialogues to explore the nuances of local communication and shared traditions.

By working side-by-side on group workshops and interactive exercises, the participants from both universities were able to bridge cultural gaps and gain a deeper appreciation for the diverse academic perspectives within the ASEAN region.

This exchange is a primary initiative of the Office of the Vice President for Local and International Affairs (OVPLIA), currently led by Dr. Renato E. Salcedo. Under his management, the program was designed to provide a training ground for undergraduate students in the fields of English and Business, while offering graduate students from the School of Advanced Studies (SAS) practical experience in handling international delegates.

As a Delivering Higher Education Institution (DHEI) under the CHED-SIKAP program, PSU-SAS continues to expand opportunities for eligible teaching and non-teaching personnel from HEIs nationwide to pursue advanced studies. The SIKAP scholarship fully supports qualified scholars by covering tuition and other academic-related assistance, including stipends and research allowances, to help strengthen the quality of tertiary education in the country through faculty and staff development.

The Pangasinan State University once again demonstrated its commitment to discipline and national service as it officially opened the Regional Annual Administrative and Tactical Inspection (RAATI) for School Year 2025-2026 at the PSU Lingayen Campus today, May 5, 2026.

The first day of the high-stakes evaluation featured the ILAB cluster, composed of the campuses of Infanta, Lingayen, Alaminos City, and Binmaley.

The event showcased the tactical proficiency, administrative organization, and military bearing of the universityโ€™s ROTC cadets.

๐—จ๐—ป๐—ถ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜€๐—ถ๐˜๐˜† ๐—ฃ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜ ๐——๐—ฟ. ๐—˜๐—น๐—ฏ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜ ๐— . ๐—š๐—ฎ๐—น๐—ฎ๐˜€ extended his full support for the annual inspection, emphasizing the university's role in fostering patriotism among the youth.

President Galas, who was in an equally important event, was ably represented by Dr. Renato Salcedo, the Vice President for Local and International Affairs.

During the welcome remarks, Dr. Salcedo conveyed the Presidentโ€™s pride in the cadetsโ€™ preparation, noting that the discipline instilled through the ROTC program is a cornerstone of the "Tatak PSU" identity and essential for the nationโ€™s future leaders.

Leading the university-wide support for the tactical inspection were Vice President Weenalei Fajardo of the Academic and Student Services Division and the Campus Executive Directors: Dr. Marie Claire Briones (Lingayen), Dr. Ramil Dacal (Infanta), Dr. Liza Quimson (Alaminos City), and Dr. Joseph Campit (Binmaley).

This yearโ€™s inspection was graced by the presence of the RAATI team, led by Guest Speaker Col. George M. Bergonia, MNSA (INF) PA, Chairman of the ROTC Regional Annual Administrative & Inspection who was represented by Col. Eugene F. Garce, (INFA) PA, Acting Chairman for RAATI SY 2025-2026. In his address to the troops, Col. Garce lauded the university's consistent dedication to maintaining a high standard of military training among its students, echoing the sentiment that these cadets are being molded into the future defenders and leaders of the country.

The inspection continues across the university system over the next 48 hours to evaluate the remaining ROTC units:

May 6, 2026: The inspection team will head to the Bayambang and San Carlos City campuses, hosted by CEDs Dr. Madlyn Tingco and Dr. Gudelia Samson, respectively.

May 7, 2026: The three-day event will conclude with the USA cluster (Urdaneta City, Sta. Maria, and Asingan), under the leadership of Dr. Renato Salcedo, Dr. Oliver Caasi, and Dr. Roy Ferrer.

As the first day concludes at the Lingayen Campus, the PSU community remains optimistic that the excellence displayed by the ILAB campuses will set a high benchmark for the region.
