Job Vacancy:

We are in need of an Animal Technician preferably a graduate of BS in Agriculture major in Animal Science.

Here are the details:

Job Order: Project Animal Technician
Place of Assignment: South Luzon Area

Job Description:
a. Provides excellent technical services on dairy cattle production/husbandry management, which includes, among others, health and rearing management, disease detection and prevention, heat detection, breeding and pregnancy diagnosis, conception and calving management as well as animal nutrition, feeds and feeding management, proper dairy ration formulation and the identification of ideal feeds and farm by-products that can be applied to individual dairy production units within the PMT’s area of coverage.
b. Assists dairy goat farmers in the planning and ex*****on of their dairy cattle farm in terms of husbandry, animal health, breeding and nutrition management, including, but not limited to, food safety, hygiene and sanitation.
c. Leads in the assessment and evaluation of the status of dairy cattle farms, and provides immediate interventions, as needed.
d. Programs and performs, thru the supervision of the Project Veterinarian, dairy goat health interventions, if and when necessary, opa on animal vaccination, zoonotic tests, and other health programs.
e. Prepares and facilitates the submission of documentary reports (e.g. necropsy, mortality, death certificate, affidavit of disinterested parties, etc.) for request for relief from property accountability and other COA and insurance claim requirements.
f. In coordination and/or along with the other PMT members:
• facilitates the transfer of technology to clienteles/customers thru effective strategies and updated extension techniques where strategies for technology transfer are area specific;
• monitors and gathers data on all technical events pertaining to individual production units, cooperatives, and any feedback coming from individual customers on dairy cattle-based products and services provided by the Project.
• assists in identifying the training needs of farmers and farmers' organizations and other dairy stakeholders and assists/facilitates in the conduct of dairy goat-based trainings on animal health, breeding and nutrition to enable the farmers and farmers’ organizations to effectively respond to the needs of integrated dairy enterprises thereby assisting their enterprises in establishing efficient, profitable and sustainable business partnerships.
• coordinates with other government agencies and other non-governmental entities on program planning and implementation especially on dairy goat-based programs with foreseen results that are beneficial to the local dairy goat industry; establishes backward & forward linkages w/ LGUs, GOs & NGOs to generate support to the different concerns of the dairy industry within the concerned regional department’s area of coverage.
• participates actively in the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the plans and programs of the Project, in general, and of the concerned regional department, in particular.
g. Projects the positive image of the Project and the NDA before the general public, its partners in development and the target customers.
h. Submits Monthly Accomplishment Reports to the National Project Coordinator thru the concerned PMT Leader thru the regional department manager.
i. Prepares and executes an approved Annual Performance Contract and submits periodic Accomplishment Report about its area of coverage to the National Project Coordinator thru the concerned PMT Leader and the concerned regional department.
j. Performs other tasks and duties as may be required/directed by the National Project Coordinator thru the concerned PMT Leader and the regional department manager.

Project Orientation on US PL480 Dairy Cattle with the prospective farmer-beneficiaries of BUFASS and CASAMACA headed by the Project Community Organizer of the Intensified Community-Based Dairy Enterprise Development with the NDA Dairy Technicians. Initial site inspection of the proposed sites of the farmers was also conducted after the orientation.

The said activity would not have been possible without the assistance of the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist of Tagkawayan, Quezon headed by Mr. Juanito Panganiban.

Farmer-beneficiaries from South Luzon receive 209 imported dairy goats under the USPL480 Intensified Community-Based Dairy Enterprise Development Project. The beneficiary organizations are from the provinces of Quezon, Camarines Sur, and Masbate. The distribution was held last June 25-28, 2021 spearheaded by the Project Management Team – South Luzon Department.

One of the major objectives of the project is to provide livelihood opportunities and increased incomes for dairy farmers in rural areas.

The following are the beneficiary organizations:

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

-Provides excellent technical services, in particular, on the dairy goats’ health and body condition which include, among others, dairy goat production/husbandry management, disease detection and prevention, and breeding and nutrition management, within the concerned regional department’s area of coverage.

-Formulates and implements an Animal Health, Breeding, and Nutrition Management Program, especially, for the dairy goats.

-Responsible for and assumes the lead in animal health, breeding, and nutrition interventions on dairy goats within the concerned regional department’s area of coverage.

-Leads in the assessment and evaluation of the health status of dairy animals, especially the dairy goats, and provides immediate interventions, as required.

-Programs and performs animal health interventions, among others, on animal vaccination, zoonotic tests, and other health programs, with a focus on dairy goats.

-Prepares and facilitates the submission of documentary reports (e.g. necropsy, mortality, death certificate, and other support documents, if and when necessary) for a request for relief from property accountability, insurance claim, and other COA requirements.
