🌱 2026 PHILIPPINE ARBOR DAY CELEBRATION | TREE AND MANGROVE PLANTING ACTIVITY 🌱

In celebration of the 2026 Philippine Arbor Day on June 25, 2026, the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) of Llorente actively participated in the Tree and Mangrove Planting Activity spearheaded by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – City Environment and Natural Resources Office (DENR-CENRO) Borongan at Brgy. Mina-anod, Llorente, Eastern Samar.

The activity formed part of the Philippine Environment Month Celebration and the launch of Luntiang Bukas: Green, Clean, and Climate-Ready Filipino Communities, highlighting the importance of environmental conservation, coastal protection, and climate resilience through collective action.

Joining the activity were representatives from the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) headed by Engr. Noel Alos , the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Sangguniang Bayan Committee on Environment, represented by Hon. Melanie S. Bocar, Palawan Pawnshop staff, the Llorente Bantay Dagat, headed by Mr. Nicandro Condrada Jr., the Mina-anod Fisherfolks Association, the Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU) of Brgy. Mina-anod, local residents, and other partner stakeholders.

Together, the participants planted Talisay (Terminalia catappa), one of the country's important beach forest species, along with mangrove propagules to help restore and protect coastal ecosystems. The activity contributes to shoreline stabilization, biodiversity conservation, improved coastal habitats, and increased resilience of coastal communities against the impacts of climate change.

The Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office extends its heartfelt gratitude to DENR-CENRO Borongan, Hon. Melanie S. Bocar, Mr. Nicandro Condrada Jr., all participating agencies, organizations, volunteers, and the community of Brgy. Mina-anod for their invaluable support and commitment to environmental protection and conservation. Through continued collaboration and shared responsibility, we can preserve our natural resources and build a greener, cleaner, and more climate-resilient Municipality of Llorente for present and future generations.

Clean-Up Drive in Preparation for the Forthcoming Town Fiesta

Today, June 9, 2026, the Office of the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources (MENRO), headed by Engr. Noel Alos, conducted a municipal-wide clean-up drive in preparation for the forthcoming town fiesta. The activity commenced at exactly 5:00 o’clock in the morning and was participated in by partner agencies, including the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

Personnel from MENRO, the PNP, and the BFP worked together in cleaning the municipality’s shoreline, collecting scattered wastes and debris to help preserve the coastal environment and improve the overall cleanliness of the area. At the same time, some MENRO personnel were deployed along the seawall road to clean roadside areas frequently visited by residents and balikbayans for walking, jogging, and other physical activities during the early morning hours.

Meanwhile, one MENRO personnel was assigned at the Municipal Grounds to continue the beautification and maintenance activities initiated the previous day. The assigned personnel carried out the trimming of ornamental plants and vegetation within the area to enhance its aesthetic appeal, making the Municipal Grounds more attractive, orderly, and presentable in preparation for the upcoming fiesta celebrations and related activities.

The clean-up drive was likewise participated in by the poblacion barangays, with each barangay identifying and cleaning designated areas within their respective jurisdictions. Through the collective efforts and cooperation of all participating agencies and barangays, the activity significantly contributed to maintaining a cleaner, safer, and more welcoming environment for residents, visitors, and returning balikbayans during the forthcoming town fiesta.

The Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office extends its sincere appreciation to all participating agencies, barangay officials, personnel, and volunteers who dedicated their time and effort to the activity. Their cooperation, commitment, and shared responsibility toward environmental stewardship greatly contributed to the success of the clean-up drive and reflected the community’s unity in preparing for a safe, orderly, and memorable town fiesta celebration.

On May 30, 2026 (Saturday), the Office of the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources (MENRO) conducted an information drive among the baratilyo stall owners and tabo vendors pursuant to the memorandum issued by the Office of the Municipal Mayor regarding the maintenance of cleanliness and proper waste management in preparation for the upcoming town fiesta.

Prior to the conduct of the information campaign, Engr. Noel A. Alos, Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer, coordinated with Punong Barangay Hon. Pastor Barcia of Barangay 8 to discuss the objectives of the activity and formulate strategies for its effective implementation. The coordination meeting served as an avenue to share ideas and establish a collaborative approach in ensuring that the campaign would be properly communicated to all concerned vendors.

The activity was subsequently spearheaded by Engr. Alos together with the MENRO office staff, in collaboration with Barangay 8 officials, including the Barangay Secretary and the Barangay Kagawad on Environment. The campaign aimed to inform and remind vendors of their responsibilities in maintaining cleanliness within their respective areas and in properly managing their waste throughout the duration of the town fiesta.

During the activity, Hon. Pastor Barcia personally visited and informed each baratilyo stall owner and tabo vendor regarding proper waste segregation, waste classification, and the schedule of waste collection to ensure compliance with environmental sanitation measures.

Through this collaborative effort, vendors were encouraged to actively participate in maintaining a clean, orderly, and environmentally responsible marketplace, contributing to the success of the upcoming town fiesta celebration and ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for residents and visitors alike.

Today, May 14, 2026, a simultaneous Municipal-Wide Clean Up Drive was successfully conducted starting at 5:00 in the morning as part of the celebration of the Llorente Charter Day and 175th Founding Anniversary.

The activity was spearheaded by the Office of the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources (MENRO), headed by Engr. Noel A. Alos, in partnership with the Philippine National Police (PNP) led by PCapt. Lovely Alyssa T. Bonifacio, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) under OIC-Municipal Fire Marshal SF03 Artemio A. Gajelan, the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) headed by Nelson A. Gopole, and the active members of the Bantay Dagat.

Along with these agencies, all barangays in the municipality actively participated in the said activity, demonstrating unity and cooperation in promoting environmental cleanliness and protection throughout the Municipality of Llorente. 🌱

This meaningful initiative reflects the community’s shared commitment toward building a cleaner, greener, healthier, and more sustainable environment for everyone.

Rising early for a PURPOSE that MATTERS. 🌍♻️✨

At exactly 6:00 AM today, a Municipal-Wide Simultaneous Clean-Up Drive was successfully carried out in celebration of Earth Month, with active participation from all Barangays across the municipality — each doing their part to keep our community clean, green, and sustainable. 🌳♻️💚

Along the coastal areas, the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), led by Engr. Noel A. Alos, spearheaded a Coastal Clean-Up Drive. With the sound of waves and the fresh morning breeze, MENRO personnel worked hand in hand with our partner agencies—the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)—in a united effort to protect and preserve our shoreline. 🌊🌞💙

Joining the initiative were BFP personnel FO2 Ariel W. Campo and FO1 John Mark Sabungan, under the leadership of OIC SF03 Artemio A. Gajelan. Also present were PNP personnel PCpl Lester Catubay and PCpl Jurry G. Lascano, who actively contributed to the success of the activity. 🧑‍🚒👮❤️

This collective effort highlights the power of unity and shared responsibility. From our barangays to our coastal frontlines, every hand that participated made a difference — proving that small actions, when done together, create lasting impact.

In compliance with the Memorandum Order issued by the Municipal Mayor, directing the Office of the Environment and Natural Resources (MENRO) to spearhead a simultaneous coastal clean-up, a coordinated clean-up operation was successfully conducted on November 23, 2025 at the shoreline areas of Poblacion and all participating coastal barangays.

This activity forms part of the municipality’s preparation for the upcoming Surf Competition, ensuring that the shoreline areas are clean, safe, and presentable for both local and visiting participants. The event also aimed to reinforce community engagement in environmental protection and sustainable coastal management.

The simultaneous clean-up drive was joined by Poblacion 1-12 and the following coastal barangays:
Naubay
San Roque
Canliwag
Piliw
Bacayawan
San Jose
Tabok
So-ong
San Miguel

The simultaneous coastal clean-up drive successfully met the requirements set forth by the Municipal Mayor’s Memorandum Order. The activity not only enhanced the cleanliness of Poblacion and all participating coastal barangays, but also ensured that the coastal environment is well-prepared for the upcoming Surf Competition.

Through the combined efforts of MENRO, barangay units, volunteers, and partner organizations, the municipality continues to foster a culture of environmental stewardship and community-driven action
