🌧️ FLOOD AWARENESS: A REMINDER FOR THE PEOPLE OF LOBOC

Recent devastating flooding in other parts of the world like Nepal reminds us of an important reality: floodwaters can rise rapidly, and disasters can happen with little warning.

Here in Loboc, Bohol, our community is closely connected to the Loboc River and its surrounding watershed. While the river is an important part of our municipality’s identity, livelihood, and tourism, areas along rivers, creeks, and low-lying portions of the municipality may also become vulnerable during periods of intense or prolonged rainfall.

The Provincial Government of Bohol’s recent assessment of the Loboc River Tourism System identified flooding and intensified rainfall among the risks that need to be addressed, highlighting the importance of strengthening disaster preparedness, protecting waterways and riverbanks, and improving the resilience of communities along the river.

⚠️ LET US NOT WAIT FOR A FLOOD TO PREPARE.

During periods of heavy or continuous rainfall, everyone is encouraged to:

🌧️ Stay informed. Monitor official weather forecasts, flood advisories, and announcements from local authorities.

🌊 Observe the river and waterways. Unusual or rapidly rising water levels should be treated seriously.

🚫 Do not cross flooded roads, bridges, rivers, or streams. Even seemingly shallow, fast-moving water can be dangerous.

🏠 Know your risk. Families living near rivers, creeks, and low-lying areas should know where they can evacuate if necessary.

🎒 Prepare an emergency kit. Keep essential medicines, drinking water, food, flashlights, important documents, and other necessities ready.

📢 Follow evacuation instructions. If authorities advise residents to move to safer areas, do not wait until floodwaters become dangerous.

🤝 Look after one another. Check on children, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and other members of the community who may need assistance during an emergency.

Loboc is not currently being declared under a flood emergency by this reminder. This is an appeal for preparedness and vigilance, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall.

Disasters cannot always be prevented, but being prepared can save lives.

Let us work together to keep our families, our communities, and our beloved Loboc safe.

On July 9, 2026, the Committee on Market & Slaughterhouse of the Sangguniang Bayan of Loboc, chaired by Hon. Efren B. Mandin, conducted a committee meeting with the concerned offices and stakeholders to discuss matters relating to the proposed location, operation, and regulation of barbecue and street food vendors within the Municipality of Loboc.

The meeting served as a venue for consultation, dialogue, and the exchange of ideas and recommendations in support of sound policy-making and effective governance.

The Sangguniang Bayan of Loboc remains committed to working closely with stakeholders in crafting policies that promote public welfare, orderly business operations, and the continued development of the Municipality of Loboc.

With profound sorrow, the Sangguniang Bayan of Loboc joins the Taldo family, relatives, friends, and the entire Municipality of Loboc in mourning the passing of our beloved former Secretary, Sir Hidolito “Idol” Taldo.

For forty-two (42) years, Sir Idol faithfully served as the Secretary to the Sangguniang Bayan of Loboc, dedicating his life to public service with unwavering commitment, professionalism, and integrity. Through the decades, he became a pillar of the institution, providing invaluable guidance and steadfast support to generations of local officials and employees. His dedication to ensuring the continuity and excellence of the legislative process has left a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire those who follow.

Beyond his exemplary service, Sir Idol will be fondly remembered for his humility, kindness, wisdom, and genuine concern for everyone he worked with. His quiet leadership, warm presence, and selfless devotion earned him the respect, admiration, and affection of colleagues and the people of Loboc.

As we bid farewell to a truly remarkable public servant, we offer our heartfelt prayers for the eternal repose of his soul. May the Lord grant him everlasting peace and strength to his family and loved ones during this time of grief.

Hinaut nga ang panig-ingnan ni San Pedro Apostol magpadayon sa paggiya kanatong tanan sa pagtuo, pag-alagad, panaghiusa, ug paghigugma sa atong isigkaingon.

Arrival and Reception of the Historic Pipe Organ Components
St. Peter the Apostle Parish Church, Loboc, Bohol

Today marks a significant milestone in the restoration and preservation of one of Loboc’s most treasured cultural and religious heritage assets as the historic Pipe Organ components formally arrived and were received at St. Peter the Apostle Parish Church.

The activity was attended by Rev. Fr. Agerio V. Paña, Parish Priest; Hon. Helen C. Alaba, Vice Mayor of Loboc; the Honorable Members of the Sangguniang Bayan of Loboc; chapel officials; representatives of the restoration team; organ builders; and members of the community who gathered to witness this historic occasion.

The event commenced with a welcome reception for the restoration team and delegates, followed by a motorcade from Barangay Agape to the Loboc Church façade. Upon arrival, the convoy was warmly received by parish and community leaders before the ceremonial opening of the transport van and blessing of the historic Pipe Organ components, accompanied by musical interludes from the Loboc Brass Band.

The components were then carefully unloaded for temporary safekeeping and documentation in preparation for their eventual assembly and installation. A short program followed, featuring welcome remarks, the introduction of the restoration team, and a presentation on the history and restoration of the iconic Loboc Pipe Organ.

This undertaking represents a shared commitment among the Church, local government, heritage advocates, and the community to preserve a priceless symbol of Loboc’s faith, culture, and history for future generations.

We extend our gratitude to everyone who contributed to and participated in this meaningful event as we take another important step toward the restoration of the Historic Loboc Pipe Organ.
