PNP PROMOTES 5,602 SECOND LEVEL UNIFORMED PERSONNEL NATIONWIDE

The Philippine National Police (PNP) marked another milestone in strengthening its leadership and operational capability as 5,602 Second-Level Uniformed Personnel formally took their oath and received their new ranks in simultaneous ceremonies held nationwide on July 29, 2026, under the First Cycle Calendar Year 2026 Regular Promotion Program.

The ceremony at the PNP National Headquarters in Camp Crame was led by Chief, PNP, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., where 393 police personnel participated in the oath-taking, donning, and pinning of ranks. Simultaneously, 5,209 newly promoted personnel took part in similar ceremonies in their respective Police Regional Offices and National Support Units across the country.

The promotion covers personnel from the ranks of Police Corporal to Police Major, recognizing their commitment, competence, and readiness to take on greater responsibilities in serving the Filipino people.

The simultaneous nationwide promotion reflects the PNP's continuing commitment to recognizing the dedication of its personnel and strengthening the organization under its Focused Agenda, particularly through the Morale and Welfare pillar. It likewise supports the vision of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. of fostering safer and more peaceful communities through a professional, disciplined, and service-oriented police force.

In his message, PGen Nartatez reminded the newly promoted personnel that while rank symbolizes achievement, the true measure of a police officer is how he or she serves the public.

"With the rank you now wear, what people will remember is how you treat them. Kung naging magalang kayo, kung nakinig kayo, at kung naramdaman nilang may pulis na handang tumulong. Iyon ang tunay na sukatan ng ating serbisyo," the Chief PNP said.

He also emphasized that every promotion carries with it a greater responsibility to uphold the trust and confidence of the Filipino people.

"As you assumed greater responsibilities, never lose sight of why you joined the service. We did not wear this uniform to seek recognition. We wear it because every Filipino deserves to live in a community that is safe, peaceful, and secure," PGen Nartatez said.

The Chief PNP also thanked the families of the newly promoted personnel for their unwavering support and sacrifices, recognizing their vital role in every police officer's journey and success.

As the newly promoted personnel assume greater responsibilities in their respective assignments, the PNP remains steadfast in advancing a culture of professionalism, integrity, and service excellence.

Guided by the principle of Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman, the organization continues to strengthen public trust by ensuring that every promotion is matched by greater accountability and a deeper commitment to serving every Filipino.

PNP MOURNS POLICE OFFICER WHO DIED AFTER COMPLETING SONA SECURITY DUTY

The Philippine National Police (PNP) mourns the untimely passing of Patrolman Chris Heredero, who died in a road crash while on his way home after completing his security duty for the Fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in Caloocan City in the early hours of July 28.

Initial investigation showed that Patrolman Heredero was riding his motorcycle while on duty when it figured in a collision with a truck along C-3 Road. He was immediately brought to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival. The 37-year-old truck driver was taken into police custody, and appropriate charges are now being prepared for inquest proceedings before the City Prosecutor’s Office.

The PNP continues to ensure that the incident is handled fairly, professionally, and in accordance with the law. The case remains under investigation as authorities complete the necessary legal processes.

The incident highlights the risks that police officers face each day while carrying out their sworn duty to protect the public. It also reflects the PNP’s continuing commitment under its Focused Agenda, particularly the Enhanced Managing Police Operations, by ensuring accountability, proper investigation, and responsive police action in all incidents involving both police personnel and civilians.

PNP Chief, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., extended his deepest sympathies to the bereaved family and assured them of the organization’s full support.

“Nakikiramay kami sa pamilya ng ating kasamahang pulis na nag-alay ng kanyang buhay habang ginagampanan ang kanyang tungkulin. Ang kanyang dedikasyon at serbisyo sa bayan ay hindi malilimutan. Sisiguraduhin natin na maibibigay ang lahat ng kinakailangang suporta sa kanyang pamilya, habang hinahayaan nating umusad ang imbestigasyon nang patas at naaayon sa batas.”

He also reminded all road users to exercise greater caution, especially during major national events where law enforcement personnel are deployed to ensure public safety.

“Ang bawat buhay ay mahalaga. Hinihikayat natin ang lahat ng motorista na maging maingat at responsable sa pagmamaneho. Sa ating mga kapulisan, ipinagpapatuloy natin ang ating misyon na maglingkod nang may integridad, disiplina, at malasakit sa kabila ng mga panganib na kaakibat ng ating tungkulin.”

ROAD TO FUREVER: SIX SAF K9 HEROES FIND NEW HOMES

Every mission has its final day, but for six retired Special Action Force (SAF) K9 heroes, the journey continues in the warmth of families who will care for them for the rest of their lives.

Under the leadership of PNP Chief, PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez, Jr., the Philippine National Police marked a meaningful milestone as six retired Explosive Detection Dogs (EDDs)—Philip, Argus, Nitro, Jacob, Chaka, and Jersy—were welcomed into their new homes through the SAF Explosive Detection Dog Adoption Program. After years of supporting critical security operations and helping detect explosive threats, the Belgian Malinois have officially transitioned from active service to a well-deserved retirement surrounded by love and care.

The adoption program recognizes the invaluable role the canine heroes played in safeguarding communities and supporting SAF personnel in challenging operations. Many of the adopters are the dogs’ former handlers, whose bond with their K9 partners was built through years of training, trust, and shared missions. By opening their homes to these retired dogs, they continue a commitment that extends far beyond the line of duty.

For the PNP, the retirement of its working dogs is not simply the end of service but a recognition that loyalty and sacrifice deserve lasting gratitude. Through the program, the organization ensures that the dogs who faithfully protected lives will now enjoy a peaceful life with families who understand and appreciate their remarkable journey.

PGEN Nartatez emphasized that the PNP remains committed to recognizing every contribution made in the service of the nation.

“These K9 heroes have dedicated years of their lives to protecting our people and supporting our police operations. They have earned our respect, our gratitude, and the chance to spend their retirement in homes where they will continue to be loved. Ang kanilang katapatan at sakripisyo ay hindi malilimutan. Nararapat lamang na masuklian ito ng tunay na malasakit at pangangalaga.”

He also highlighted the lasting bond between handlers and their canine partners.

“The bond between our handlers and these remarkable dogs is built on trust and loyalty. Kahit tapos na ang kanilang serbisyo, mananatili silang bahagi ng ating pamilya. Ang pag-aampon sa kanila ay pagpapakita ng tunay na malasakit.”

The initiative also reflects the PNP Focused Agenda—a strategic direction for transformation designed to make police service more responsive, trusted, and people-centered. SOCCSKSARGEN’S MOST WANTED R**E FUGITIVES FALL IN TWIN PNP OPS

The Philippine National Police (PNP), under the command of PNP Chief, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., arrested two high-ranking wanted persons facing rape-related charges in separate law enforcement operations in General Santos City and South Cotabato on July 26, 2026, reinforcing the organization’s sustained drive to bring fugitives accused of crimes against children and women before the courts.

In General Santos City, operatives of Police Station 10 of the General Santos City Police Office and the General Santos City Highway Patrol Group arrested a 46-year-old Filipino male who was listed as the No. 9 Regional Most Wanted Person and No. 1 City Most Wanted Person. He was arrested in Barangay Calumpang by virtue of a warrant for R**e by Sexual Assault, Statutory R**e, and Acts of Lasciviousness in relation to Republic Act No. 7610, or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.

In a separate operation in Purok Mabuhay, Barangay Ambalgan, Sto. Niño, South Cotabato, personnel of the Sto. Niño Municipal Police Station, the 2nd South Cotabato Provincial Mobile Force Company, and the South Cotabato Provincial Intelligence Unit arrested the No. 9 Provincial Most Wanted Person and No. 2 Municipal Most Wanted Person, who is facing a charge of Attempted Qualified R**e under a warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court, Branch 44, Surallah, South Cotabato.

“These arrests underscore our determination to locate fugitives who attempt to evade justice and ensure that they answer for the charges filed against them before the courts,” PGEN Nartatez said.

“Hindi titigil ang ating mga pulis sa paghahanap sa mga taong iniiwasan ang pananagutan. Mananatili tayong nakatuon sa pagprotekta sa ating mga komunidad, lalo na sa mga bata at mga biktima ng pang-aabuso.” he added.

The successful operations reflect the PNP Focused Agenda, a strategic framework for organizational transformation aimed at strengthening police service through responsive and results-driven law enforcement. Central to this accomplishment is the key priority on Enhanced Managing Police Operations, which reinforces focused police actions against wanted persons and other law violators.
