San Francisco B National High School Celebrates Student Excellence with Inspiring Recognition Ceremony

LOPEZ, QUEZON โ€” On March 30, 2026, San Francisco B National High School held its annual recognition ceremony, honoring the hard work, resilience, and outstanding academic achievements of its students. The event brought together eager awardees, proud parents, and dedicated teachers in a memorable celebration of scholastic success.

Highlighting the ceremony was an impassioned keynote address by guest speaker Donnabel M. Tengco. Her message, centered on perseverance and the reality of chasing ambitions, deeply resonated with the gathered crowd.

Addressing the students, Tengco delivered a powerful reflection on what it takes to achieve one's goals:

"I believe that a dream is like a gamble: when you're losing, you can choose to walk away. But with your dream, the moment you give up is the only time you truly start losing. Because a dream that isn't fought for and worked hard for isn't a true ambition, but merely a fleeting fantasy that you never even tried to fulfill."

The candid and moving words left a lasting impression on the audience. Students and awardees were visibly moved by the call to action, finding renewed motivation to push through adversity. Meanwhile, teachers and parents praised the speech for its grounding and empowering perspective on grit and dedication.

Aside from Ms. Donnabel M. Tengco's memorable speech on transforming fleeting fantasies into true ambitions through hard work, other key highlights of the event include recognition of top-performing students across various grade levels, a strong showing of parents and local educators coming together to support the youth.

The successful ceremony not only acknowledged the academic milestones of the student body but also equipped them with the inspiration needed to face future challenges and fight for their dreams.

San Francisco B National High School Holds State of the Learner Government Address

Outgoing SSLG president Jahzeel Zhen B. Almarez of San Francisco B National High School took the stage to deliver a comprehensive report on the SSLGโ€™s journey on February 23, 2026. Highlighting a timeline that began with conduct of Brigada Eskwela 2025 down to the Search for 2026 King and Queen of Hearts, Almarez detailed the various school and district programs and activities that the council spearheaded and participated in over the past months.

Almarez expressed her deep gratitude to Principal Jean H. Villena, SSLG Adviser Lorena R. Asilo, and the various organization advisers for their unwavering mentorship. She also credited the success of their initiatives to the active participation of the faculty and the student body.

"Leadership is not just about power and fame," Almarez reminded her peers. "It is rather about responsibilities and genuine service to others."

She concluded her speech with a challenge to the studentry to remain steadfast in practicing the schoolโ€™s core mantra: DAKILA KA.

Principal Jean H. Villela reinforced this sentiment in her keynote message, emphasizing Project DAKILA. This initiative focuses specifically on the values formation of SFBNHS learners, aiming to mold them into exemplary citizens. She praised Almarez for being a good servant leader who tried her best to anchor SSLG's programs and projects to project DAKILA.

Coinciding with the Lenten season, the school principal shared a letter from the CBCP regarding the practice of fasting and abstinence. She encouraged students to look beyond food and consider a "social media fast," urging them to redirect that time toward prayer and community service.

"Do good to others, for multiple goodness shall come back to you," the principal reminded the assemblyโ€”a signature piece of advice that resonated throughout the hall.

The event also marked a transition of power as the newly elected SSLG officers officially took their oaths of office, pledging to uphold the schoolโ€™s standards of excellence.

Closing the ceremony, SSLG Adviser Lorena R. Asilo extended her heartfelt thanks to the SFBNHS community. She noted that such gatherings are vital in developing "future leaders and law-abiding citizens," ensuring that the spirit of cooperation continues to thrive within the campus.

SFBNHS Core Subject Teachers Attend Classroom and National Assessment Alignment Workshop

In a proactive move to elevate academic standards and prepare learners for global competitiveness, teachers from San Francisco B National High School who are handling English, Science and Mathematics classes attended a specialized seminar-workshop about "Aligning Classroom and National Assessments" on February 19, 2026, at the Lopez National Comprehensive High School (LNCHS).

This training-workshop gathered educators handling core subjectsโ€”English, Science, and Mathematicsโ€”alongside school heads from Lopez West District. The initiative was spearheaded by the Public Schools District Supervisor (PSDS), Rejulios Villenes, whose leadership emphasized the necessity of bridging the gap between daily classroom evaluation and the rigorous demands of national and international benchmarks.

The training kicked off with an in-depth look at the fundamental "why" and "how" of testing. Maricel Francia set the stage by discussing Principles on Assessment Literacy and providing a National Assessment at a Glance, giving teachers a clear roadmap of the current educational landscape in the Philippines.

Building on this foundation, Ruel Arcega led the sessions on technical precision with his topics:

Crafting Better Tests: The Art of Item Writing for Classroom-Based Assessment

Standardizing Success: Writing Items for Classroom-Based Assessment

Arcegaโ€™s sessions focused on the "art" of creating questions that truly measure student understanding rather than simple memorization.

A significant portion of the day was dedicated to the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), a global benchmark that has become a key focus for the Department of Education.

Joyyeth Marrie Bautista tackled the complexities of global testing through her lectures on PISA and Classy Assessment Principles, Parallels, and Particularities and Designing Meaningful Contexts for PISA-like Assessments. Her discussion highlighted the importance of "context"โ€”ensuring that math and science problems are rooted in real-world scenarios that students can relate to and solve using critical thinking.

Complementing this, Gideon Tranas provided a practical guide with Principles and Guidelines in Writing PISA-like Items, equipping teachers with the specific tools needed to mirror the structure and difficulty of international exams.

The atmosphere throughout the day was one of intense collaboration. Participants from San Francisco B National High School weren't just listeners; they engaged in active discussions and presented both individual and group outputs, showcasing newly crafted assessment items.

With the high level of participants' engagement, speakers delivered their topics with exceptional clarity. This training is expected to have a direct impact on the classroom, fostering Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) among students and ensuring they are "PISA-ready" and fully prepared for any future national or international assessments.

SFBNHS TVLโ€“Industrial Arts (EPAS) Learners Complete NC II Assessment at ATS Lopez

Lopez, Quezon โ€” January 22, 2026

Grade 12 students of San Francisco B National High School (SFBNHS) under the Technical Vocational Livelihood (TVL) Track โ€“ Industrial Arts, specializing in Electronic Products Assembly and Servicing (EPAS), successfully completed their National Certificate II (NC II) competency assessment from January 19 to 22 at Advance Technological Science School Incorporated (ATS), Brgy. Pansol, Lopez, Quezon.

Prior to the assessment, the learners underwent intensive training as Joint Delivery Voucher Program (JDVP) beneficiaries facilitated by Grabsum School Inc. from December 1, 2025, to January 18, 2026. The training focused on electronic assembly, soldering and desoldering, circuit troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and proper handling of electronic tools and measuring instruments.

The four-day assessment was conducted by TESDA-accredited Assessor Nelbert R. Salubre, who evaluated the studentsโ€™ performance based on national competency standards. Over the course of the evaluation, candidates performed hands-on tasks including circuit installation, equipment testing, fault diagnosis, and compliance with occupational safety procedures.

The learners were guided by EPAS teacher Mrs. Maricel Z. Pontejos, while technical training and on-site supervision were supported by Christian Jim Masaga, a trainer accredited by Grabsum School Inc.

โ€œThe JDVP training strengthened their skills and confidence. The assessment gave them an opportunity to apply what they have learned in a real testing environment,โ€ Pontejos said.

Assessor Salubre commended the learners for their focus and preparedness. Out of 32 candidates, 30 successfully passed the NC II assessment.

โ€œThe candidates demonstrated competence and seriousness in performing the required tasks. Their output clearly reflected the quality of their training,โ€ he noted.

The NC II certification is a nationally recognized qualification that can open employment opportunities in electronics servicing, repair shops, technical support, and other related industries. For the learners, the assessment marks a major milestone as they prepare for graduation and entry into the workforce.

SFBNHS expressed gratitude to Grabsum School Inc. for facilitating the JDVP training and to Advance Technological Science School Incorporated for providing the facilities and technical support for the assessment. The collaboration highlights the commitment of all institutions involved to strengthen technical-vocational education and produce industry-ready graduates.

As they await the release of their certificates, the Grade 12 EPAS learners move forward with practical skills, hands-on experience, and confidence to pursue careers in electronics technology.
