On November 17, Villahermosa Elementary School successfully held its Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Week 2025 Program, beginning with the National Anthem led by Ma’am Arreya V. Adan and a prayer by Zhiana F. Ferrer. Principal Ma’am Margarita Segui delivered the opening message, stressing the importance of drug awareness and responsible decision-making. Sir Albert Jarel L. Adan introduced the guest speaker, PLT Alvin D. Evangelista, who delivered a long, meaningful, and inspiring talk focused on guiding young learners toward a safe and drug-free future. In his message, he emphasized how early education and strong values can protect children from the dangers of illegal drugs. He reminded the pupils that every choice they make—big or small—shapes their future, and choosing a healthy lifestyle, good friends, and proper discipline will help them avoid harmful influences. He also encouraged parents and teachers to work together as role models, explaining that a united community creates a stronger shield against drug abuse. PLT Evangelista highlighted real-life lessons from his experience in service, urging everyone to stay alert, make wise decisions, and treat drug prevention as a shared responsibility. His message served as a powerful reminder that each learner has the potential to become a leader, advocate, and protector of a drug-free society.
Certificates were then awarded to the guest speaker and to the winners of the Slogan Making Contest, which included Grade 4 winners: 1st – Julianne L. De Asis, 2nd – Clarence Bernadette R. Barreno, and 3rd – Arianne Jane Dugan; Grade 5 winners: 1st – Elain May M. Linaga, 2nd – Xian Brey A. Taratara, and 3rd – Justin C. Mejorada; and Grade 6 winners: 1st – Lance William M. Escleto, 2nd – Anthonette Mae J. Mejorada, and 3rd – Jhusriel A. Cagujas. The program concluded with a closing message from Ma’am Lanelen R. Barreno,NDEP school coordinator with Ma’am Lualhati D. Leogo ensuring the smooth and organized flow of the entire event. As the event ended, everyone was reminded of a powerful quotation: “A drug-free life is a brave choice—choose courage, choose health, choose your future.”
