BPI-Los Baños joins HANDOG NG PANGULO Caravan

September 14, 2026 | The nationwide caravan “Handog ng Pangulo: Serbisyong Sapat Para sa Lahat” empowered local farmers and agricultural stakeholders in Los Baños, Laguna, through hands-on training and planting material support.
This activity was conducted in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Los Baños, with technical support from the Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Plant Industry - Los Baños National Crop Research, Development and Production Support Center (DA BPI-LBNCRDPSC),

The training equipped participants with practical, science-based knowledge to enhance their crop production and farm management. Experts from the DA BPI-LBNCRDPSC and BPI Central Office facilitated the discussions on seed and seedling production, cassava production, field management of tissue-cultured lakatan banana, asexual propagation of fruit trees, and integrated pest management for insect pests and plant diseases.

To reinforce the learning sessions, beneficiaries also received agricultural inputs they can directly utilize in their farming activities. Distributed planting materials include vegetable seeds, tissue-cultured banana seedlings (Lakatan), cassava cuttings, grafted mango, and coffee seedlings.

A simultaneous distribution activity was likewise conducted by DA BPI-LBNCRDPSC staff at the ground level of the Los Baños Municipal Hall, where walk-in clients received seeds and planting materials. By combining capacity-building with the direct provision of quality planting materials, this initiative helped bring government agricultural services closer to the community, driving more productive and sustainable farming practices in Los Baños.
