: Water Quality Testing Conducted to Ensure Safe and Reliable Drinking Water for Jomalig

Today, the DOST-CALABARZON team conducted water sampling and quality testing for the Solar-Powered Water Filtration System with Ice Maker Machine in Jomalig, Quezon as part of the projectโ€™s ongoing technical validation and operational assessment.

This activity forms part of the revalidation of the systemโ€™s microbiological quality. Previous physico-chemical analysis of the water has already been conducted, while todayโ€™s testing focuses on microbial assessment. Initial laboratory analysis included the Heterotrophic Plate Count (HPC), which measures the total microbial load in the water. Further microbiological testing, including Total Coliform and F***l Coliform analysis, will be conducted tomorrow to complete the assessment of water safety and potability.

This activity aims to ensure that the system will provide clean, safe, and potable drinking water for the community, especially amid the persistent hot weather conditions on the island. The project is also expected to augment the limited access to potable drinking water in Brgy. Apad, where only one water refilling station currently serves residents.

The facility was likewise visited and inspected by Governor Angelina โ€œHelenโ€ Tan of the Provincial Government of Quezon and Acting Mayor Dahlia T. Manalo of Jomalig, who observed the ongoing testing and implementation efforts for the project.

Kap. Elizabeth Tejada, Brgy. Captain of Brgy. Apad, also shared how the facility can significantly help residents access safer and more affordable drinking water for the community.

โ€œMalaking tulong po ito lalo na sa mga kabarangay ko na walang kakayahan bumili ng mahal na inuming tubig. Siyempre, ang unang-unang kailangan ng tao ay inuming tubig.โ€

Through continued S&T interventions and collaboration with local stakeholders, DOST-CALABARZON remains committed to delivering responsive and community-centered solutions for geographically isolated communities.
