Local farmers, LGUs, and agriculture students gathered at Central Luzon State University (CLSU) last 16 September 2026 for a training-workshop aimed at reducing postharvest losses and improving the quality of Philippine mangoes.
The "Training on Postharvest Handling of Mango: Ensuring Quality from Farm to Market," was organized under the SPRINT-Hort Program, a flagship research program funded by the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCAARRD).
The event featured experts from both CLSU and the UPLB Postharvest Horticulture Training and Research Center. From PHTRC, Ms. Daphne Cassandra Gonzales, Ms. Jennifer Padrid, and Engr. Ryan Anthony O. Lualhati (online) served as resource speakers. Participants from Pantabangan, San Jose City, and the City of Muรฑoz also engaged in an open forum to discuss real-world challenges in mango production, storage, and market distribution.
The training was organized by the CLSU team of SPRINT-Hort Project 1, headed by Ms. Joan Bayla, with her colleagues Ms. Hannah Cabading and Ms. Mylene Tomenes. They were assisted by the PHTRC team with Ms. Ma. Angelica Caรฑizares, Mr. Neil Christian Sanjorjo, Ms. Alexie Joy France, and Ms. Grace Anne Alcantara-Espinosa.
