OVCIEM welcomed 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳. 𝗡𝗶𝗻𝗮 𝗡. 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗺𝗼𝗴𝘂𝗰𝗵𝗶, 𝗣𝗵.𝗗., and 𝗠𝗿. 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 𝗕𝗿𝘆𝗮𝗻 𝗘. 𝗟𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘀 from the 𝗧𝗼𝗸𝘆𝗼 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 (𝗧𝗼𝗸𝘆𝗼 𝗡𝗢𝗗𝗔𝗜) during their courtesy visit to UPLB to discuss preparations for the 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟳 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁 (𝗜𝗦𝗦), which will be hosted by UPLB. The visit provided an opportunity to strengthen coordination and explore ways to ensure a meaningful and successful ISS 2027.

UPLB looks forward to working closely with Tokyo NODAI and other partner institutions in bringing the 26th International Students Summit to UPLB and fostering continued international collaboration among students and universities in food, agriculture, and environmental sustainability.

The UPLB Office of the Vice Chancellor for Innovation and Enterprise Management (OVCIEM) recently presented the UPLB Entrepreneurial University Framework (EUF) and Branding and Packaging Guidelines to the UP System RCWIC and UP Constituent University Vice Chancellors on 28 July 2026.

VC Haerold Dean Layaoen and BAO Director Eugene Crudo highlighted UPLB’s efforts to foster an entrepreneurial ecosystem that connects innovation, research, enterprise, and public service.

The EUF was highly appreciated by the UP OVPRI and CU Vice Chancellors, who expressed interest in returning to UPLB to benchmark its best practices, particularly the Technology Hub and One-Stop Shop – One Town One Product (THOSS-OTOP) model.💡

The UPLB Office of the Vice Chancellor for Innovation and Enterprise Management (OVCIEM) welcomed the UP System Research, Creative Work, and Innovation Council (RCWIC) to Elbi CIRCULO Café on 28 July 2026 for an engaging exchange on circular economy, innovation, and sustainable enterprise.

VC Haerold Layaoen introduced the principles of the circular economy behind CIRCULO Café. Director Salces and Dean Angeles, represented by CAFS Admin Officers Ms. Latayan and Ms. Tumangan, then expounded on the café’s history, concept, and operations, as well as its innovations and the innovative food products developed and sold at the café.

The visit brought together UP research and innovation leaders, including VP Joel Marciano, AVPs Val Almoro and Dave Centeno, Director Louie Sison, VC Nel Bantayan, VC Carl Odulio, VC Mimi Yap, Ma’am Myra Oruga, Ma’am Daisy Romeo, Ma’am Zoe Mallonga, VC Les Dalmacio, Dr. Marilou Montiflor, and Dr. Mai Peñalba.

UPLB continues to strengthen food security and community resilience through the spirit of bayanihan. Learn how the AGRI-BAYANIHAN initiative brings together the University's resources, expertise, and partners to create meaningful impact in communities.

Patuloy ang paghahatid ng AGRI-BAYANIHAN: Ugnayan ng Pamantasan at Pamayanan para sa Seguridad sa Pagkain ng Krisis sa Enerhiya ng sariwang ani mula sa mga institusyon tungo sa komunidad ng University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB).

Matapos ang unang distribusyon noong Mayo 7, 2026, matagumpay itong nasundan ng pito pang yugto ng distribusyon ng gulay sa pamamagitan ng sama-samang pagkilos ng mga institusyon, tanggapan, kolehiyo, at boluntaryo ng UPLB. Sa kasalukuyan, mahigit 450 benepisyaryo na ang nakatanggap ng libreng gulay sa ilalim ng proyekto.

Higit pa sa naipamahaging gulay, ang proyekto ay patunay ng kapangyarihan ng sama-samang pagkilos tungo sa pagsusulong ng seguridad sa pagkain at pagbuo ng mas matatag na pamayanan.

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Innovation and Enterprise Management (OVCIEM) welcomed Dr. Eing-Ming Wu, Chair Professor at Shu-Te University and Executive Director of the Edu-Connect Southeast Asia Association, during his visit to the University of the Philippines Los Baños.

Dr. Wu previously served as a Visiting Professor at the University of the Philippines National College of Public Administration and Governance (UP NCPAG), reflecting his longstanding engagement with the UP System.

His visit underscores the value of strengthening international partnerships and exploring future opportunities for collaboration in innovation, research, technology transfer, and academic exchange.

𝗨𝗣𝗟𝗕, 𝗣𝗮𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝗟𝗚𝗨, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗖𝗘𝗡 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗣 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁

The University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) convened a coordination meeting on 15 July 2026 with Hon. Ronald B. Cosico, Mayor of Paete, Laguna, and representatives of ACEN Corporation to discuss key administrative, regulatory, and local government requirements for the implementation of the UP Wind Energy Project.

The meeting focused on the project’s development requirements, including compliance with the Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP), land use conversion, and the permits and regulatory clearances necessary to facilitate the construction of the wind turbine generators. Discussions also covered UPLB’s institutional requirements and internal processes to ensure that project implementation of all other UPLB projects remain consistent with University policies, applicable laws and regulations, sound environmental stewardship, and the interests of partner communities and other stakeholders.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Haerold Dean Z. Layaoen, Vice Chancellor for Innovation and Enterprise Management; Dr. Josefa Angelie D. Revilla, Assistant to the Vice Chancellor; Dr. Marlo D. Mendoza, Dean of the College of Forestry and Natural Resources (CFNR); For. Reynaldo E. Lorida, Director of the Land Grant Development Office (LGDO); Atty. Jorge S. Davide, Jr., Head of the UPLB Legal Office; and representatives from ACEN/GIGAWIND 8 Inc., namely Ms. Angelie Mae Sipoy, Ms. Via Ramos, and Atty. Jasmin Sison.

Also present were representatives from the Office of the Vice President for Development (OVPD), the UPLB Legal Office, the Department of Community and Environmental Resource Planning (DCERP) headed by Chair Ayona Devanadera, the Land Grant Development Office, and the Local Government Unit of Paete, Laguna.

The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of UPLB, the Municipality of Paete, and ACEN to strengthen collaboration in advancing sustainable and responsible renewable energy development. As a strategic partnership, the UP Wind Energy Project seeks to contribute to the country’s clean energy transition while creating long-term value through research, environmental conservation, community engagement, and sustainable development initiatives.

The University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) participated in the 25th International Students Summit (ISS) on Food, Agriculture, and Environment, held at the Tokyo University of Agriculture from 29 June to 04 July 2026. This year's summit carried the theme, “𝙋𝙪𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘽𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨: 𝙄𝙣𝙘𝙡𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝘼𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙒𝙚𝙡𝙛𝙖𝙧𝙚”.

UPLB Chancellor Jose V. Camacho, Jr. delivered a recorded message during the Opening Program, while Vice Chancellor Haerold Dean Z. Layaoen represented the University at the summit and delivered the closing remarks alongside representatives from partner universities. Their participation reaffirmed UPLB's commitment to international collaboration in food, agriculture, and environmental sustainability.

The summit brought together universities from around the world to exchange knowledge, share innovative ideas, and strengthen partnerships that promote inclusive and sustainable community development.
