Muling kinilala si Pampanga Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda bilang isa sa 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧’𝐬 𝐓𝐨𝐩-𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐌𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐬 ng bansa sa RPMD Foundation’s “Boses ng Bayan” Index of Governance (IOG) – 1st Quarter 2026.

Sa 84.41% IOG, kabilang si Gov. Pineda sa Second-Ranked National Cluster, na may 84.28% Trust Rating at 84.55% Performance Rating.

Ang pagkilalang ito ay sumasalamin sa isang pamahalaang malapit sa tao, mabilis umaksyon, at tunay na may malasakit. Mula sa serbisyong pangkalusugan, imprastraktura, disaster response, hanggang sa mga programang pangkabuhayan, nananatiling prayoridad ang kapakanan ng bawat Kapampangan katulong sina Vice Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda, Sangguniang Panlalawigan, lahat ng departamento at empleyado ng Kapitolyo.

Ang RPMD ay isang Philippine-based public opinion pollster at independent research organization na kilala sa pagsasagawa ng nationwide “Boses ng Bayan” surveys at paglalabas ng performance at trust ratings ng mga opisyal ng gobyerno.

Gumagamit po sila ng random sampling mula sa humigit-kumulang 5,000 hanggang 10,000 rehistradong botante upang masukat ang performance at trust indicators.

READ | DILG urges LGUs to establish Safer School Zones, mobilize over 277,000 barangay tanods

Amid heightened public concern over recent incidents of violence involving learners, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has directed all local government units (LGUs) to establish Safer School Zones (SSZs) nationwide and mobilize 277,744 barangay tanods to help safeguard learners from crime, violence, traffic hazards, and other threats around schools.

The directive supports the Marcos administration's whole-of-nation approach to public safety and child protection by strengthening coordination among LGUs, schools, law enforcement agencies, and communities.

"Schools must remain places of learning, not places of fear. Through Safer School Zones, local governments, barangays, schools, law enforcement agencies, parents, and communities will work together to better protect every learner," the DILG said.

Under Memorandum Circular No. 2026-037, the DILG institutionalizes Safer School Zones under the government's Safer Cities and Safer Communities Initiative. Governors, city and municipal mayors, punong barangays, the Philippine National Police (PNP), and other stakeholders are directed to strengthen safety and security around public and private schools.

LGUs are directed to identify and address safety hazards and security risks within school zones, including unsafe roads and pedestrian facilities, speeding vehicles, fire and disaster risks, and other threats to learners. They are likewise encouraged to enact or strengthen local ordinances on traffic management, pedestrian safety, crime prevention, violence prevention, and public order around schools.

Barangay tanods will serve as force multipliers by maintaining a visible presence, conducting roving patrols, assisting in traffic management, providing immediate assistance, and promptly reporting or referring incidents to the proper authorities.

The directive limits barangay tanod operations to areas outside school premises, except when authorized by school authorities or when immediate lawful assistance is necessary. It likewise reiterates that barangay tanods shall remain unarmed civilian community support actors and must immediately refer incidents requiring police, fire, medical, social welfare, or other specialized response to the appropriate authorities.

Based on consolidated DILG data, 277,744 barangay tanods serving in 42,010 barangays nationwide stand ready to support the implementation of the initiative by helping maintain peace and order and enhancing public safety around school communities.

The DILG said the Safer School Zones initiative reinforces the government's commitment to keeping schools safe through coordinated public safety measures, ensuring that every learner can study in a secure and orderly environment.

Following the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has placed local government units (LGUs), particularly in Northern Luzon and other hazard-prone areas, on heightened alert and ordered the immediate implementation of critical preparedness measures ahead of the expected entry of Super Typhoon 'Bavi' into the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

"Now is the time to prepare. We are directing all LGUs to move early, activate their disaster response mechanisms, and ensure that communities in high-risk areas are ready should conditions worsen," the DILG said.

Earlier, President Marcos directed the adoption of a whole-of-government approach to mitigate the potential impact of the super typhoon, instructing national and regional disaster agencies to activate preparedness measures to protect lives, livelihoods, and property.

Based on the latest forecast of DOST-PAGASA, 'Bavi' is expected to enter the PAR between Tuesday evening and early Wednesday, when it will be assigned the local name 'Inday.' While current projections indicate a low probability of landfall, the weather disturbance is expected to intensify the Southwest Monsoon, bringing heavy rains, strong winds, flooding, and possible landslides across several parts of the country.

In an advisory, the DILG directed LGUs to closely monitor official weather bulletins, activate their Emergency Operations Centers and Incident Management Teams as necessary, identify flood- and landslide-prone areas, prepare for preemptive evacuations, preposition rescue assets and relief supplies, and ensure that evacuation centers are fully ready to receive affected families.

LGUs were likewise instructed to immediately clear drainage systems and waterways, inspect critical infrastructure, and intensify public information campaigns to encourage residents to prepare emergency go bags, monitor official advisories, and avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather conditions.

The Department also reiterated the strict implementation of Operation L!STO protocols and other rainy season preparedness measures, emphasizing that early action, sound coordination, and decisive local leadership remain the strongest safeguards against disasters.

"We expect every local chief executive to remain at their respective stations, lead from the front, and act decisively to protect lives and keep their communities safe," the DILG said.

Ngayong Nutrition Month, kaisa ang Kagawaran ng Edukasyon (DepEd) sa sama-samang pagtaguyod ng wastong nutrisyon at tamang pangangalaga sa kalikasan.

Sa temang "Nutrisyon at Kalikasan ating pangalagaan," binibigyang-halaga ng pagdiriwang ngayong taon ang ugnayan ng nutrisyon at pangangalaga sa ating kalikasan.

Bahagi ng hangaring ito, patuloy na pinauunlad ng DepEd ang mga programang tulad ng School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP) at Gulayan sa Paaralan na sumusuporta sa pagbibigay ng tama at sapat na nutrisyon sa ating mga mag-aaral.
