[OSR UPDATE, RE: REQUEST FOR EXTENSION OF DEADLINE FOR THE SUBMISSION OF HARD-BOUND THESES RECEIPTS AND FAST-TRACKING OF PENDING THESES]

In line with the nearing submission deadline for hard-bound theses receipts, the Southern Luzon State University - Office of the Student Regent (SLSU-OSR) formally submitted a request today, May 7, 2026, addressed to the Office of the President, Dr. Frederick Villa through the Offices of the Vice Presidents and the Office of Student Affairs and Services, seeking an extension of the deadline and immediate intervention regarding pending thesis processes.

The request highlights the growing concerns of graduating students who are still completing revisions, incorporating panel recommendations, and securing the necessary approvals and signatures required for final thesis submission. Due to these ongoing academic and administrative processes, many students are experiencing difficulty complying within the current timeframe.

In view of this, the office respectfully requested that the administration grant an ๐—ฒ๐˜…๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—ฑ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฒ ๐—ณ๐—ผ๐—ฟ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐˜€๐˜‚๐—ฏ๐—บ๐—ถ๐˜€๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐—ต๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ฑ-๐—ฏ๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ๐˜€๐—ฒ๐˜€ ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐—ฒ๐—ถ๐—ฝ๐˜๐˜€ to provide students with ample time to fulfill all requirements properly and without unnecessary pressure. The letter likewise acknowledged the current limited availability of some approving authorities due to official leave or travel commitments.

Above all, genuine service for the students.

[SLSU-OSR SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY]

The SLSU Office of the Student Regent (OSR) successfully convened its 2nd General Assembly last April 27 at the Graduate School Conference Room, bringing together passionate volunteers and dedicated executives in a shared space of purpose, leadership, and service. More than just a gathering, the assembly became a meaningful reflection of what it truly means to represent and uphold the voice of the student body.

The program was opened with an inspiring message from Hon. Jan Angelo Claierx Paderon, SSCF President and Student Regent, who emphasized the significance of every volunteerโ€™s role in shaping a more responsive and inclusive student governance. He highlighted that beyond tasks and responsibilities, volunteers serve as bridges between the administration and the students, carrying not only concerns but also hopes, aspirations, and the collective vision of the community they represent. His words served as a powerful reminder that leadership begins with listening, empathy, and the courage to stand for others.

One of the most notable moments of the assembly was the special message delivered by University Board Secretary of the Board of Regents (BOR), Maโ€™am Aurora Sumague. Expressing her heartfelt gratitude for being invited, she acknowledged the importance of initiatives like this in strengthening collaboration within the university. She also shared key updates on recently approved policies by the Board of Regents that directly benefit the student body. Among these are the expansion of the Tulong Dunong Program, the increase in allowances for student assistants, and the provision of incentives for students who demonstrate exemplary academic performance.

Furthermore, she introduced the latest policy on inbound and outbound mobility programs, a significant step toward global engagement. Through this initiative, both students and faculty members are now granted financial assistance to participate in conferences, workshops, and exchange programs across different countries. This development not only opens doors to international exposure but also reinforces the universityโ€™s commitment to holistic growth, academic excellence, and global competitiveness.

The assembly also became a celebration of dedication and service through a heartfelt awarding ceremony. Long-serving volunteers were recognized for their years of unwavering commitment, while new volunteers were honored for their willingness to step forward and take on the responsibility of service. Each committee was likewise acknowledged, highlighting the strength of teamwork, collaboration, and collective effort in driving the office forward. These recognitions served as a reminder that every contribution, whether seen or unseen, plays a vital role in building a stronger and more effective organization.

As the event came to a close, it left behind more than just memories of speeches and awards. It reinforced a deeper sense of purpose among everyone present. The 2nd General Assembly stood as a testament to unity, resilience, and the enduring commitment to serve. It echoed a powerful message that when individuals come together with a shared vision, the voice of the student body becomes not only heard, but truly felt stronger, more empowered, and ready to create meaningful change.

Above all, genuine service for the students.

[STRIVE. SURVIVE. SUCCEED: LET THE ICCAC-CAFโ€™26 BEGIN]

โ€œโ€”the best competitor is the one who lifts others up while striving for success.โ€

Alabat Sharks. Gumaca Lions. Lucena Leopards. Infanta Thundercats. Catanauan Wolves. Tayabas Scorpions. Tiaong Pythons. Tagkawayan Tigers. CEn Fuels. CAM Falcons. CABHA Jaguars. CIT Warriors. CAg Eagles. CTE Torchbearers. CAS Dragons.

7 colleges. 8 satellite and extension campuses. 1 championship. Who will emerge and take the ICCAC-CAF '26 title this year?

As the gates of the university gymnasium open, the stage is set and the energy is unmatched. Cheers echo across the halls, delegates enter with confidence. Carrying their banners along with pride, passion and purpose. This year, it is more than just a competition, it is a battle of talent, celebration of unity and camaraderie. Where every moment and every movement tells its own stories.

From every beat of the music, every shot of the balls, every stroke, every serve, every point, every move on the stage. Only one thing is certain. This is where they will strive. Continuously survive. However, only one will actually succeed.

As the ICCAC-CAF ignites the field this April 19-23, prepare your loudest cheer and the liveliest chants.

Let the games begin.

Above all, genuine service for the students.
