COPS SHOWS HONESTY AND HEROISM IN ACTION

Following the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr to uphold integrity, professionalism, and public service, the PNP once again demonstrated its commitment to integrity and public service through two separate acts of honesty and heroism.

A social media post praised Patrolwoman Sunshine Cariaga of the Eastern Police District–District Mobile Force Battalion for returning ₱30,000 that had been mistakenly sent to her GCash account. The money belonged to an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who had intended to send it to family but accidentally entered the wrong number.

Despite her GCash app being uninstalled, Patrolwoman Cariaga promptly reinstalled it, verified the transaction, and returned the full amount the following morning—politely declining the token of gratitude offered to her.
In a separate incident, the same vigilance and dedication were evident when Lingayen Municipal Police Station successfully rescued a four-day-old infant who had been abducted from Lingayen District Hospital. The suspect, disguised as a nurse, deceived the baby’s mother into handing over the child. Coordinated efforts among the baby’s family, local residents, and police led to the safe recovery of the infant in Binmaley, Pangasinan, and the arrest of the suspect.

Acting Chief PNP PLTGen Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. commended both acts, saying, “I commend Patrolwoman Cariaga and all personnel involved in the swift rescue of the infant. These incidents show that true heroism comes in many forms—whether through honesty in everyday actions or courage in critical moments. Our personnel continue to serve with integrity, professionalism, and compassion, protecting the Filipino people and earning their trust every day.”

Chief PIO and PNP Spokesperson PBGEN Randulf T. Tuaño added:

“Stories like these remind us why we serve. Each time an officer chooses what is right, no matter how ordinary or risky it seems, it strengthens the bond between the police and the community. May this inspire every member of the PNP to keep leading with integrity and heart.”

These cases affirm that heroism often comes quietly yet leaves a lasting impact. They are not isolated incidents but living proof of the high standards of integrity and service that the PNP strives to uphold every single day for the Filipino people.

PNP REMAINS READY IN BARMM ELECTIONS DESPITE THE SUSPENSION

By the order of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., government agencies are closely monitoring the Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) issued by the Supreme Court that prompted the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to stop all preparations for the Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections (BAMMPE) 2025 scheduled for October 13.

Even though the COMELEC has an ordinance, the Philippine National Police (PNP) ensured that their continuous preparation for security to ensure safe and orderly elections this time will be allowed to proceed.

Acting Chief PNP PLTGEN Jose Melencio C emphasized. Nartatez Jr., "We respect and obey the decision of the Supreme Court as well as the COMELEC's resolution to temporarily suspend the preparation. It is the responsibility of the PNP to maintain peace and order in the region, and we remain ready to ensure election security once it is allowed to proceed. ”

PLTGEN Nartatez instructed all police units in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) to remain on high alert and continue coordination with COMELEC, Armed Forces of the philippines and local governments.

Additional PNP Spokesperson PBGEN Randulf T. Tuaño, "The duty of the PNP remains unchanged even if there is a temporary pause. We continue to liaise with various agencies to ensure peace and security across the region. We respect the court's decision and our police remain ready once the election is proceeded. ”

The PNP's contingency plans include intensified intelligence monitoring, proper deployment planning, and close liaison with local peace and order councils to prevent any security threat while elections await.
