Nagkahiusa karon ang Local Government Unit sa Lungsod sa Lupon, Davao Oriental ug National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) Davao Region aron masiguro nga luwas ug naatiman sa sakto ang mga karne diha sa merkado.

Sa pamahayag sa NMIS Davao Region niadtong Setyembre 20, 2025, gipahigayon ang seminar alang sa Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) ug Sanitation Operating Procedures diha sa paghupot sa limpyo nga karne.

Nahibaloan nga ang mga partisipante sa maong aktibidad mao ang mga meat inspectors, butchers, ug staff gikan sa Lupon Municipal Slaughterhouse, padayong nagapaningkamot nga mapalig-on ang good safety ug public health standard diha sa merkado.

Matud sab sa pamahayag ni Lupon Mayor Santos Alonzo, ang aktibidad nagtinguha nga mapalambo ug masiguro nga luwas ang karne diha sa panimalay, ilabi na nga mahatud sa mga kunsumante ang luwas nga pagkaon dungan sa pagtabang sa panginabuhian sa mga butcher sa lungsod.

POST-ABATTOIR INSPECTION | Lupon Municipal Slaughterhouse

To ensure the safety and quality of meat products being sold in the municipality, the Lupon Municipal Slaughterhouse conducted a post-abattoir inspection of meat shops and establishments selling frozen meat products.

During the inspection, a vendor was issued a warning for selling lechon from a hog that was not slaughtered through the municipal slaughterhouse, contrary to existing meat inspection regulations. The inspection team likewise confiscated approximately 20 kilograms of imported pork maskara found to be in violation of Department of Agriculture Administrative Order No. 6, Series of 2012, due to improper thawing practices.

To safeguard public health and prevent the products from re-entering the market, the confiscated meat was immediately condemned and disposed of at the municipal condemned pit following the prescribed disposal procedures.

The Lupon Municipal Slaughterhouse continues to conduct regular inspections and monitoring activities to ensure compliance with food safety standards and existing meat inspection laws. We encourage all meat vendors and food business operators to observe proper handling, storage, and sourcing of meat products for the protection of our consumers.

The Lupon Municipal Slaughterhouse informs all livestock owners, meat vendors, and stakeholders that the updated tariff rates for butcher services (matadero fees) are now effective today.

To promote transparency and proper guidance, we are also reposting the current slaughterhouse fee schedule for everyone’s reference. Please note that the slaughterhouse fees remain unchanged. The updated rates apply only to butcher services.

By utilizing the accredited slaughterhouse facility, we help ensure that meat sold to the public undergoes proper inspection and handling, safeguarding the health and welfare of our community.

As part of the continuous enforcement of meat safety and sanitation regulations, post-abattoir monitoring and inspection activities were conducted in Barangay Tagugpo, Barangay Cabadiangan, and Sumlog. The activity focused on reminding local meat vendors and individuals engaged in weekly backyard slaughtering to strictly comply with the proper slaughtering procedures, meat inspection requirements, and sanitary standards mandated under the National Meat Inspection Service regulations and local ordinances.

Vendors were informed on the importance of bringing food animals to accredited slaughter facilities to ensure proper ante-mortem and post-mortem inspection, issuance of Meat Inspection Certificates, and the delivery of safe and wholesome meat products to the consuming public. This initiative also aims to strengthen public awareness on food safety, prevent the sale of uninspected meat, and promote responsible meat handling practices within the community.

The Municipal Slaughterhouse Management remains committed to protecting public health through regular monitoring, information dissemination, and the strict implementation of national meat inspection laws and food safety standards.

The orientation for Batch 20 of the Basic Slaughtering Training Program was successfully conducted today at the Lupon Municipal Slaughterhouse.

The session focused on the slaughterhouse rules and policies, implementing guidelines, training procedures, and sanitation standards necessary to promote proper operations, discipline, and compliance with meat safety practices.

This orientation serves as the foundation for responsible and competent slaughterhouse operations.

📌 PUBLIC ADVISORY | LUPON MUNICIPAL SLAUGHTERHOUSE

To further strengthen our security, monitoring, and accountability measures, the Municipality of Lupon, Lupon Municipal Slaughterhouse is now officially implementing the use of the Carcass Release Stub for all released carcasses effective today.

Upon payment at the cashier’s office, vendors/private customers will be issued:
• Official Receipt (OR)
• Carcass Release Stub

The issued stub shall serve as the vendor’s /private customers official authorization or gate pass indicating that the corresponding fees for the carcass have already been fully settled.

Before exiting the slaughterhouse premises, all vendors/private customers are required to present the stub to the assigned guard on duty for verification and release confirmation.

This procedure is part of our commitment to:

✔ Enhanced operational control and security

A field visit was conducted yesterday at Brgy. Don Mariano Marcos, Lupon, Davao Oriental, in response to the barangay’s request for assistance regarding credentials for their large animals.

The activity focused on facilitating proper documentation and ensuring compliance with standard requirements and procedures for livestock management. It was conducted in coordination with personnel from the Department of Agriculture LGU Lupon who also provided assistance through the distribution of insurance coverage for large animals, supporting local farmers in safeguarding their livestock.

This initiative strengthened coordination between the barangay, the slaughterhouse office, and the DA in promoting organized, lawful, and efficient livestock management practices.

We extend our appreciation to the barangay officials for their warm accommodation and proactive efforts in securing proper documentation for their livestock. This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to improved service delivery and responsible livestock management at the community level.
