𝙈𝙖𝙖𝙨𝙞𝙢 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙜 𝘼𝙜𝙧𝙞𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙪𝙧𝙨 𝙏𝙧𝙞𝙪𝙢𝙥𝙝 𝙖𝙩 𝙔𝙁𝘾 𝙎𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙤𝙣 6

Young agricultural entrepreneurs from the Municipality of Maasim, Sarangani showcased their creativity, determination, and entrepreneurial potential during the Young Farmers Challenge (YFC) Season 6 Provincial Pitching Competition held on August 11, 2026, in Koronadal City.

The Young Farmers Challenge (YFC) Program is an initiative of the Department of Agriculture that aims to encourage and empower young Filipinos to engage in agriculture and agribusiness. Through business planning, mentoring, pitching, and financial assistance, the program provides young people with opportunities to develop innovative and sustainable agricultural enterprises and transform their ideas into viable business ventures.

Representing Maasim, the young delegates were supported and guided by the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist (OMAg) Maasim throughout their preparation. The office provided technical assistance and mentorship, particularly in the development and refinement of their Business Model Canvases (BMCs), business concepts, presentations, and pitching strategies.

During the provincial competition, the delegates presented their proposed enterprises before an expert panel of judges. Their presentations demonstrated their creativity, entrepreneurial skills, and understanding of the challenges and opportunities in the agricultural sector. Their proposed ventures featured viable, innovative, and solution-driven business models with the potential to contribute to local food production, employment generation, and rural economic development.

Following a rigorous evaluation, three local ventures from Maasim emerged as Provincial Winners, with each receiving an ₱80,000 capital grant to support the establishment, expansion, and strengthening of their respective agri-enterprises.

The awardees were Aljim N. Kudarat of K's Aquafarm; Jessa Reah Ani, Hannah Kilam, and Jaciboy Calizo of EcoHarvest Integrated Farm; and Maria Cristina Gajusta, Christian Hemoros, Chester Arsenia, and Abdul-Him Ibrahim of Marimon.

Their achievement highlights the growing interest and potential of the youth of Maasim in agriculture and agribusiness. More than providing financial assistance, the YFC Program equips young farmers with valuable knowledge and skills in entrepreneurship, business planning, marketing, financial management, and enterprise development. It provides them with an avenue to see agriculture not only as a traditional livelihood but also as a viable, innovative, and rewarding business opportunity.

Their success serves as an inspiration to other young people in Maasim and demonstrates that with the right opportunities, knowledge, mentorship, and support, the youth can become active partners in transforming agriculture and shaping a stronger and more sustainable future for the municipality.

The Office of the Municipal Agriculturist (OMAg) is OPEN TODAY to assist you in documenting your losses and facilitating available support.

What to bring/prepare when reporting:

1. Valid ID
2. Location & details of the damaged farm/fishery area
3. Photos of the damage (if available)

Estimated extent of loss (e.g., number of hectares, heads of livestock, or fishing gear/boats damaged)

The Municipality of Maasim proudly emerged as the Overall Champion during the Provincial 4-H Achievement Day 2026 held at the SPEU Gym, Provincial Capitol, Alabel, Sarangani. The event gathered 4-H youth members from different municipalities across the province in a celebration of leadership, creativity, innovation, and agricultural excellence.

Maasim showcased outstanding performance as it actively participated in all activities and competitions prepared for this year’s celebration, including the 4-H Quiz Bee, Project Pitching, 4-H Songcon (Himig Handog), 4-H Reel Roots Video Making Competition, 4-H Trashformation, and the prestigious Mr. and Ms. 4-H pageant.

Representing the Municipality of Maasim in the various competitions were the following talented and dedicated youth participants: Aljim N. Kudarat for the 4-H Quiz Bee; James G. Zulueta for the 4-H Songcon or Himig Handog; Joel Licanda and Louie Andrei Allera for the 4-H Reel Roots Video Making Competition; Maria Cristina Gajusta, Christian Lloyd Hemoros, Abdul-him Ibrahim, and Chester Jethro Clint Arsenia for the Project Pitching Competition; Harvey Lara for the 4-H Trashformation Competition; Jhon Bien Gimpayan as Mr. 4-H; and Queenie Mae H. Bulat-ag as Ms. 4-H.

Demonstrating excellence and innovation, the Municipality of Maasim secured First Place in the Project Pitching Competition, where participants presented innovative and sustainable community-based project ideas aimed at empowering the youth and strengthening agricultural development. The municipality also dominated the 4-H Trashformation Competition, impressing judges and audiences with indigenous gowns and formal attire creatively crafted from farm wastes and recyclable materials, highlighting environmental awareness and resourcefulness among the youth.

Adding to its achievements, Maasim also claimed the crown in the Mr. and Ms. 4-H Competition, showcasing not only beauty and confidence but also intelligence, leadership, and advocacy for agriculture and rural development.
Meanwhile, the municipality earned Third Place in both the 4-H Quiz Bee and the 4-H Songcon or Himig Handog, further proving the competence and talent of Maasim’s young delegates in academic and musical fields. The municipality likewise participated in the 4-H Reel Roots Video Making Competition, contributing meaningful and creative content promoting the importance of agriculture, youth involvement, and community development.

With its impressive achievements across the different competitions, the Municipality of Maasim was officially hailed as the Overall Champion of this year’s Provincial 4-H Achievement Day, bringing pride and honor to the municipality and highlighting the exceptional skills and potential of Maasim’s youth.

The remarkable accomplishments of the Municipality of Maasim were made possible through the dedication and teamwork of the participants, coaches, trainers, parents, and the unwavering support of the Local Government Unit of Maasim through the Municipal Agriculture Office.

This year’s victory reflects the municipality’s continued commitment to empowering the youth through the 4-H Club program, fostering leadership, innovation, environmental stewardship, and active participation in agricultural and community development initiatives.

With pride and honor, Maasim once again proved that its youth are capable of becoming catalysts of change and champions of rural development in the Province of Sarangani.
