Are you an artist, designer, content creator, artisan, performer, creative entrepreneur, or part of the creative sector?

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) - Southern Leyte Provincial Office is conducting a Creative Industry Profiling Survey to identify, map, and connect the talented individuals, businesses, organizations, and institutions that make up Southern Leyte's creative community.

If you are engaged in any of the following creative domains, we encourage you to participate:

𝐒𝐋𝐒𝐔 𝐌𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐋𝐚𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐡 𝐒𝐋𝐒𝐔 𝐂𝐀𝐑𝐄𝐒 𝐄𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟖

Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) Main Campus, through the Office of Extension and Community Outreach Services, is set to officially launch the SLSU CARES: Community Action for Resilience, Empowerment, and Sustainability extension project on July 8, 2026, at 8:30 AM via Google Meet.

The launching marks the beginning of a series of capacity-building and community extension activities designed to strengthen community resilience, promote empowerment, and foster sustainable development among partner local government units and communities across Southern Leyte.

Immediately following the launching program is the first activity, "Healthy Relationships and Empowered Choices," which will be spearheaded by the Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) under the leadership of its Dean and Activity Leader, Dr. Aldwin M. Teves.

The seminar will feature three distinguished resource speakers: Ms. Mona Rhea C. Cagurol, MA, Ms. Nenita V. Flores, MAEd, RGC, and Mr. Rodel M. Sescon, MM, who will share their expertise on fostering healthy relationships, making informed life choices, and promoting personal well-being and empowerment among participants.

The activity marks the beginning of a series of seminars, trainings, and capacity-building initiatives to be conducted by SLSU's various colleges, all aimed at addressing the needs of partner communities and promoting community empowerment and sustainable development.

The SLSU CARES initiative supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4: Quality Education; SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities; SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, by strengthening collaboration among the University, local government units, and community stakeholders.

Knowledge shared is governance strengthened. 💡🤝

The DILG Southern Leyte, through the Southern Leyte Sub-Local Governance Resource Center (Sub-LGRC) and in partnership with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Southern Leyte, successfully facilitated another meaningful knowledge-sharing initiative through KAPIHAN sa PIA, featuring experts from Southern Leyte State University Main Campus Research and Extension Services.

Conducted on April 29, 2026 at the Philippine Information Agency Southern Leyte Office, Brgy. Combado, Maasin City, the KAPIHAN featured Dr. Francis Ann Sy, Vice President for Research, Innovation, Publication, and Extension; Engr. Jonelle Tablada, Director for Extension and Community Outreach Services; and Engr. Khorina Aguilar Tablada, Director for Research, Innovation, and Publication Services of Southern Leyte State University, who shared valuable insights on SLSU CARES: Community Action for Resilience, Empowerment, and Sustainability, a transformative extension program designed to strengthen community capacities, promote resilience, and foster sustainable development through targeted learning interventions and stakeholder collaboration.

This initiative highlights how KAPIHAN serves as a strategic knowledge-sharing avenue of the Southern Leyte Sub-LGRC and its Multi-Stakeholders Advisory Council (MSAC) partners, enabling institutions and subject matter experts to contribute technical knowledge and practical solutions responsive to the needs of local government units and communities.

Through the strengthened partnership among PIA, DILG, and the Southern Leyte Sub-LGRC, the KAPIHAN platform continues to advance the shared goal of promoting collaboration, public education, and capacity development in support of responsive, informed, and effective local governance.
