🌿💙 | 33rd National Children’s Month 💙🌿

As we celebrate the 33rd National Children’s Month, we honor not only the rights and welfare of every child, but also the future we are building for them. 💚👧👦

Today, we wear blue to symbolize our office’s strong support for child protection and development—a perfect complement to green, which represents our shared responsibility to protect the environment they will grow up in. 🌏✨

Because a child-friendly world is also a clean, safe, and sustainable world.
Because caring for children means caring for the planet they will inherit.
Because blue + green = a future worth fighting for. 💙💚

Let’s continue working together to create spaces where children can thrive—healthy, safe, and surrounded by a well-nurtured environment.

📸 Say Blue!
💙🌿

🌿 Go Green Southern Leyte Program: Roadside Planting Using Madre de Agua (Trichanthera gigantea) Molopolo to Cambaro, Macrohon Road.

🌱 Why Madre de Agua?
It is a fast-growing, multi-purpose tree known for its ecological, agricultural, and economic benefits:

🌳 Soil Stabilization & Erosion Control
Its dense root system helps prevent landslides and soil erosion along roadside slopes.

🌾 Livestock Fodder
Leaves are rich in protein and palatable to pigs, goats, and poultry—ideal for integrated farming systems.

🌿 Low Maintenance & Fast Growth
Easily propagated from cuttings, it thrives even in poor soils and regrows vigorously after pruning.

🌼 Biodiversity Support
Provides shade, habitat, and nectar for pollinators, enhancing roadside biodiversity.

🌞 Climate Resilience
Tolerates drought and heavy rainfall, making it suitable for Southern Leyte’s varied terrain.

💚 Community Livelihood
Can be harvested regularly for fodder or biomass, offering income opportunities for farmers and barangays.

- Barangay Beautification: Green corridors that uplift community pride and tourism.
- Disaster Risk Reduction: Natural buffer zones against flooding and erosion.
- Sustainable Agriculture: Linking roadside planting with backyard livestock feeding.

🌿🌳 Spreading Love for Nature this Heart's Season! 🌳🌿

In celebration of National Environmental Awareness Month, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) spearheaded a Tree Hugging Activity today, February 13, 2024. The Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU), through the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Management Office (PENRMO), actively participated in this meaningful event, reaffirming our commitment to environmental conservation.

Tree hugging is more than just an act of affection for nature—it has been scientifically proven to reduce stress, improve well-being, and deepen our connection with the environment. This initiative also aims to raise awareness about the importance of trees in mitigating climate change and preserving biodiversity.

Together, let’s continue to show love not just for one another but also for our environment! 🌎💚
